In 1997 I had a contract valeting ex Strathclyde Council, Renault Masters, in white. Part of the deal was t-cutting the paint that had seen nothing but soap and water for years. Things have moved on so much that I'm starting from the beginning again and your videos are excellent tutorials.

Back in the early 90’s I had a red 88 205CTi, within a few months the paint started to oxidise and turn that ugly pink colour. Not knowing I bought a T Cut and tried to polish it out but no joy. A few months later it was booked in for an interior valet ( not really needed I was a bit anal about my cars back then ) and when I went to collect it later that day the guy commented on the paint. I explained the T Cut I’d tried and ultimately failed to rectify the damage. I’ve never forgotten what came next, he got some AutoGlym polish and poured a bit on the bonnet, picked up his polisher and made a circular motion about 2 foot in diameter. After 30 secs he stopped, got a rag and wiped away the excess polish to leave a hugely glossy patch on my bonnet. I was gobsmacked, immediately told him to do the whole car. It came back like a brand new car, inside and out. It had covered 37k miles by then but looked showroom standard. I remember going to look at a Vauxhall Calibre in it and the salesman was drooling over it asking me to sell it. You did an amazing job, this Corsa looks a great first car for someone who I bet was thrilled to receive it.

Clay barring will cause marring marks so in a perfect world you should use a machine polisher. Compound by hand is good but can only get you so far. 2 coats of turtle wax ceramic spray will see you through winter

Hey mate, how much would you typically charge for a full wash and Decon and then sealant? And if you were providing a service like this in the regular would you stick with sealants or old fashioned wax? Thanks!
@epicautomotivedetailing4 жыл бұрын
Hello a full decon would include a clay bar and a minor polish with machine. I would charge minimum of £150. Some cars on the channel have been discounted purely so i can film

@@epicautomotivedetailing okay I see! I’ve just discovered your Chanel and am going to be taking the plunge soon of starting a detailing business on weekends alongside a week job and your videos have been very useful! Another question I had was in a video you were talking about upselling and on some cars it would start at a £50 clean and could end up adding extras such as a decontamination or a polish, how do you work that into your day? What if you had booked 2 or more cars to clean that day but you end up spending much longer than first anticipated on that car? Would you strike a deal to come back and perform more as not to let other customers down? Or would you suggest starting off for a newbie only book one car a day? Sorry for the long question but you seem so good at this haha! Thanks in advance

@@bobboy9000 for me it took me time to figure out what type of person would have a certain trait eg the family man with 4 kids would always have a messy car, when i book cars in i always allow extra time to run over so i never say ill be there at 9:30am i always say ill be there between 9:00 - 10:00 so it gives me a 30 min buffer

Nice job. How much would this service cost? I've an Alfa with faded red paint.

Honestly it varies but for me I seen this type of service go between £100-£300 pound for your average car cleaner

Any tips for starting on machine polishing? Want to try but all a bit daunting incase I ruin the Paintwork, what products do I use on the pads? What's the difference in the colours of the pads etc?? If anyone can pm me with info?

1 product? Nu Finish or Simonize wax with ceramic. I have been washing cars sincce 1956 when my Father had a garage built with floor drains and hot water. This was in Northern Ohio, and yes I did wash his cars year round. Back then it was Dupont 33 car wash, Westley's Bleech Wite whitewall cleaner, and Blue Coral wax. Now I fake clay, seal with nu finish and use ceramic detailer as needed, but I now live in Southwest Florida.
