I had a screen print and embroidery shop. We had a 6 head 12 color machine for shirts and large items and a 4 head 6 color machine for ball caps. Both were Brother machines. We had to pay a guy from Japan to come train us. It’s pretty awesome you’re covering this!! The world needs this. Makes me miss my business. We had tons of fun. The worst customers were the parents of little kids that were starting to play baseball. Lol.

LOL I've had an embroidery business for over 30 years. And you are absolutely correct! Hockey and baseball parents (usually one of the same) are absolutely without question, the all time worst customers bar none!

Thank you so much. I came back to let you know the value of this video. I have 2 1501 machines and I did had the first little gadget you showed. Tried using it once and never took it out of the box again. After watching you explain how to use the digital one on both the bobbin and top threads. It convinced me I needed this one. I’ve been struggling and restitching over and over. I got mine today and ordered new bobbin cases as well. I’ve been struggling with using prewound bobbins. I was very confident that I could do exactly what you showed me how to do. And OMG! It WORKED! I set the new case to pull 23-25 and I guess I was doing ok on the top threads because it runs in my machine perfectly. Thank you thank you 😊 sorry for long post.

This sure beats hefting the machine into the back of an SUV, travelling to a city to get the machine serviced and lugging it back home a couple of weeks later. I have an older Brother PR650, and it falls out of tension if you sneeze next to it. I'm picking up a TOWA as soon as possible. I never knew these existed! Thanks for the information!

My! How things have changed since I learned to sew! I remember about having to adjust tension. We just did it by feel.

The tension on this machine has to be different when working with hats. Can you do a video regarding the tension and how much tighter it needs to be?
@DjChadowАй бұрын
There’s no difference between hats and flats for your top thread. You can make adjustments to your bobbin tension if needed. Most home embroiderers over-complicate things because they read more about embroidering instead of actually embroidering. No two machines will perform exactly the same so what one KZbinr says works for them might not work for you or might just be unnecessary steps so they can make content for their channel. Sam did a great tutorial for setting up your machine, but this isn’t a necessary step every time you embroider. Trouble shoot when you run into issues, don’t create issues when none exist.

THANK YOU SAM -- Can you answer? Did I miss this detail? If you need to adjust the top tension thread, which knob do you turn? The very Top or do you go for the middle/bottom knob below the top knob as it's a finer tunning? I heard the knob turning, but we didn't see which one you were turning. THANk you -- EXCELLENT KZbin!!

Sam, if you set your machine up on top of a piece of padded carpet it really works to quiet it down in your work area. I run mine upstairs that way, and in the room just below it, you can't hear it at all. Ricoma comes with a built in 15 color tension test.

This was such an awesome thorough video. Thank you so much. I just ordered my towa digital gauge. Got a couple of questions 1. Do you run the thread through the needle eye when you’re measuring the top thread ? 2. How do you know when you need to adjust the bobbin thread when looking at your” I “ tension test? I know adjusting the fine tune knobs will make the middle line in the back larger or smaller but what would show if the bobbin is too tight or loose ? Thanks for your help.

Embroidery has a very steep learning and troubleshooting curve -- much more than laser engraving or CNC work. Just so you know. :) It's great when it's great, but a mess when it's not. This machine is great though, I have zero complaints.

Guideline: Setting Numbers for Bobbin Case Tensions: Everyday Embroidery - between 22 gf to 24 gf Cap Embroidery - 25 gf I got this from the Description of MadeiraUSA's KZbin: How to Use the Digital Tension Gauge: Bottom Thread, they have one for Top Thread too depending on Poly or Classic Rayon or other thread types listed. They suggest we do Bottom Tension first before setting Top Tension and then the I-test. Someone else mentioned a Bobbin Tension of 18 gf for her Ricoma Machine... Hope this helps too. I watch several KZbin on Tensionings and then go from there...
