Our Ubud host, Rejon, used to be a tour guide. Over breakfast, he would tell us stories, traditions and beliefs of Balinese and the Balinese Hindu religion. But above all, he would describe many different places on Bali to us - palaces, temples and natural wonders that the island has to offer.
We wanted to experience them ourselves!
Over the next 3 days, we traveled east, north and around Ubud, Bali to explore the sacred and historical places of Bali and its peoples. Join us at the beginning of our journey, where we visit two very important Balinese temples: Besakih Great Temple and Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple.
Rejon did not disappoint - both temples took our breath away by their size, detail, impressive decor, and the traditions observed there. We had some reservations to the experience of visiting the temples that we share in this video, but don't let these minor obstacles prevent you from discovering Besakih and Lempuyang when you visit Bali!
