So the diesel that you’ve seen in this video isn’t rlly D261 but an OC that I came up with called Alden. I came up with Alden for another video that I wanted to do but never got around to doing and was gonna use my ertl D261 to make him. I didn’t do anything to my ertl D261 because I don’t wanna model the only D261 I have into an OC.
As for his backstory, he was built in 1961 and was in charge of express passenger services like the rest of his class. Notice how his number is D350 btw. When looking at the crash section on the Class 40’s wiki page, it mentioned a derailment that D350 got into. In this backstory, Alden was being careless and that’s why he derailed and was sent to work at a scrapyard as punishment where he was just as rude to the engines there awaiting their fate until he met Drummond who spoke some sense into him. In later years, Alden too became obsolete and was sent to be scrapped in 1979 at that same scrapyard he worked at. Just as he was being cut up, he was bought last minute to work on the East British Railway and has been more then grateful for preservation.
This video was inspired by another video called “Where Steam Engines Go To Sleep” and by an rp that I was doing in discord a few weeks ago.
