That game was not as much about beating NC State as it was a statement about how special Greenville was, and still is. Greenville!! Special place.

I was at my apartment on E 3rd St in Greenville: TV volume down-Pirate Radio network volume up. Just like every other game that season. Honestly, I can tell you there was never any doubt that ECU would make their patented comeback. Jeff Charles and Crump made one of the most classic broadcasts in the history of college sports.

I was there and it was wonderful. Flew our Pirate flags allthe way home. Still believing.

2013 ECU grad here, but remember this season well. What a great decade for Pirate football. First Pirate game I attended was a 42-21 win over Cincinnati at a chilly D-F in 1992. It would have been something if they could have been my home state Illini!

Your full of shit. 2013 grad? So you had to be born in 92. Fuck off.

@@charismatic9904 cause everyone goes to college right away and graduates in 4 years right? Also he would have been born in 90 by your math.

I was there! Met my NCSU family after the game and my sister said “Don’t say a word “! I said “I don’t have to! My team said it all for me.”

I remember watching that Illinois game and the penalty after the on sides kick was some horseshit! They were excited they just recovered the kick and it took all the wind right outta their sales! But I still remember being 12 watching with my best friend and us both being pissed.

Exactly. We listened to the radio broadcast @ 805 E 3rd St, Greenville. The rest was history!

We can blame Miami for that penalty! Lol

I've never heard that radio call of the final play before. You get the distinct impression that the announcer didn't respect the decision to play for a tie.
@jeffcollins99953 жыл бұрын
The ECU voice of the Pirates, Jeff Charles, questioned it, but the color analyst, C. Crump particularly did not like that decision.

Interesting that #5 made the big play for VT in 1990 and #5 made the big play for ECU in 1991.
