PEN: A TWSBI 580 fountain pen, Extra fine nib. Platinum Carbon black ink.
PAINT COLORS:
Ultramarine blue
Yellow ochre
Burnt sienna
Hunter green
Davys grey
Quinacridone fuchsia
PAPER: Size- 5"x7"
Fabriano 140lb Cold Press Paper for this Video.
My papers of choice include Arches and Fabriano 140lb Hot press and Cold press paper and Strathmore 500 series Sketchbooks. All are 100% cotton rag.
For beginners, I recommend starting with a high quality paper and experimenting with different types. As your style develops, you'll get a feel for which type is best. Waiting to switch to a better quality paper later will be much like learning to paint all over again.
BRUSH: A Polar Flo 1/2 inch flat brush. The bristles were originally white but have become stained.

Fabriano isn't my favorite paper.. but you should try the soft press. They are the only ones that make it and it was my favorite of their options. It's halfway between hot and cold press. Just enough texture while still being great for pen.

i find the platinum ink isn’t waterproof. how do you keep yours from smearing when painted over?

Mine is. Be sure it's the carbon black. I bought mine in cartridge form from jetpens online.
