I have tried several permanent markers but they seem to dry up too quickly. Have you found a brand that will last a while? It gets old when you start a drawing just to find out that the pen won't draw properly!! Thanks!

I painted this when I was just a year into watercolor and line and wash. Now I will paint again.... one of your best along with your lighthouses and farm scenes. Love your style

For anyone who doesn’t know, there are also water-insoluble inks that are made for fountain pens. There are a number of brands and colors, but I would point out two that I use under or over watercolor washes: Noodler’s Lexington Gray (a dark, transparent gray) and Platinum Carbon Black. Both are absolutely waterproof when allowed to fully dry. Lexington Gray retains its waterfastness even when diluted with water before application. Its transparency means that it can be layered for a range of values. It can even be loaded into a waterbrush. For any waterproof ink, a little extra care should be taken not to let it dry out in the pen, and I would not use waterproof inks in a costly pen. But then, there are many great fountain pens available now at little cost.

Thank you, this was so fun and was really happy with the results. Am a real newbie and have been painting many flowers. This light house was just the ticket to the next thing. Your kind of wonky style really speaks to this creative human being. So appreciative.

Peter - a thousand thanks for this wonderful, inspiring video. You make pen and wash look so easy, but truly you have the hand and eye of a master! Great to see how you set out the pespectives before going back to fill in the details. Just wondering.... what size paper were you using?
