Great video, guys. Great song too, Owen. Loved it. Maggie is the picture of contentment in your arms by the fire and then snuggled between the two of you watching TV. When you said you were "southern as grits," you reminded me of a line from a Don Williams song, "𝑰 𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒘𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒃𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒃𝒆, 𝑺𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒚𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆." Another great trip through our wonderful American state parks. I recently watched Smithsonian special on Biltmore (The Birth of U. S. Forestry) and learned that the acreage that created Pisgah National Forest was donated by Edith Vanderbilt. So interesting to learn about the area. I'm wondering about the wood you found for the Solo Stove: I was under impression that one should always use local wood for burning in any state to prevent new forest infestations. It that wood treated without pesticides, or otherwise safe--maybe because your keeping inside Solo rather than pit? Thanks for your wonderful programming, and music!
@VANTREKKINGlifestyle3 жыл бұрын
Well that's a great bit of history information. Thank you for that. Wood that has not been fire treated is discouraged from being taken from area to area. The Piñon wood is heat dried and safe to transport. BTW this is actually a federal national park service campground and area. Thanks for watching and being with us.

Hi Warren… it’s Owen. First, before I answer you know that your comment made an old man smile. Because you see, we keep our shooting and editing very, very simple. You might be surprised with our kit, equipment and process. ALL videos, with the exception of drone and underwater, are shot using 2 iPhone 13 Pro phones. We have other cameras but we’ve learned that our new iPhones shoot in such amazing quality (and we’re not even using the ProRes feature) that it makes it almost too easy. They’re always with us, we always keep them charged and both are setup with the same profiles and date/time so post work such as color correcting and synchronizing clips is a breeze. And like we keep the shooting simple, we keep the editing simple too. Neither of us even owns a computer or laptop anymore. All of our episodes are edited completely on a 12.9 iPad Pro using an app I’ve used for many years called LumaFusion. It’s not as powerful as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier but it’s always with me since we travel with the iPads too. And as the years have gone by it’s become more and more powerful. We shoot on our phones at 4k 60fps in HDR and it handles that with a breeze and allows us to upload surround sound audio and HDR video to KZbin. When we’re on the road we usually upload in 1080p just like we did for this video. When we’re home or have great Wi-Fi or cell coverage we try to upload in 4K. It makes a little difference for those who watch on TVs. Hope this helps. It sure helps me to know that someone actually notices the effort we put in. We live in an amazing time right now and the things we can do with the simple technology available to us is just amazing. Thanks for watching.

As always, totally enjoy your work. I just launched my own KZbin channel. If you check it out, start with episode 3. I do both the music & video content. Sorta VanLife meets Photo vlog... but different. My work is kinda trippy. Best with headphones. Lemme know your thoughts!

We both think you are Awesome! We watched all your videos… Love, love, love your style. The only thing I’m missing is knowing the person behind the camera. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much! And yeah, I get the “not knowing the person behind the camera”.. but, at least initially, I wanted the focus to be on the work. And thank you both again for getting back to me! You’re both awesome! :-)

Please start doing more traveling across are great country. It seems like your just hanging out in the Carolina’s promoting products. Don’t get me wrong the Carolinas are Beautiful . But your videos are changing. From what you started out doing . We love y’all and you have more to give .. travel videos should have more travel to different environments. Not trying to say this in a negative way . But like most people that buy RV end up just going to campsites close to there home base . With a occasional long trip . And then in a few years they get burned out and move on to something else. I know I like to be reminded that there are lots of regions across are country with amazing people and sight’s to see. . Y’all are very entertaining

Thank you so much for your input, it is appreciated. We hope to do more long trips in the future… we realize there is so much out there to see and experience but sometimes it hard to get away for long periods of time that we feel like we would need to make it worth the time to travel that far, so we do what we can for now. I hate you feel we a promoting products, that’s not our intention at all we just want to share the items that works for us in a small space in hopes it may also help someone else. We all travel differently and what works for one person doesn’t mean it works for everyone. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Have a wonderful week.

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle We love your videos, Owen and Lynn, whether they are in NC or somewhere else. We just purchased a Travato 59K in the summer and are learning a lot about how to downsize from a 30-ft Class C and enjoy our B, whether that's on a local day trip or several overnights somewhere. We, too, find it challenging to get away for long periods of time. We love watching another older couple travel part-time in their van. So many of the RV'ers posting videos are full-timers or much younger than we are, and we can't relate to their experiences. We also love hearing about products and tips/techniques that work for you guys. Your music is wonderful, too! So much better than the canned dance music so many of the RV videos use. Your voice and lyrics add so much to your videos. Please keep your videos coming--wherever you go. Happy Thanksgiving! Hugs to Maggie from us!

@@stephenboldrey9973 Stephen it's probably true we're moving differently. Family needs and COVID have kept us close to home for what seems like forever. Maybe we played it too safe. Who knows. Right now we have a trip west planned for January, 2022 and we should get back to more of the things that you mentioned. We'll take our bikes but probably not kayaks. And the series we are on now has us into TN too. Thanks for watching and really thanks for letting us know how you feel about episodes. It helps us know what to prioritize. That said we'll always prioritize family and happiness over content and hope you understand that.
