Hint from an old traveller, stay put on windy days. The wind can cause increased gas consumption and less control of your camper up to being blown off the road altogether. Have a nice day. Tom in the Maritimes

@@randallsmodernlife It’s far from what it used to be to be. California is one step behind Australia when it comes to gun laws. This state is not hunter friendly at all considering what they charge residents, much less out-of-state hunters. Most of that land out there, actually on both sides of the valley, is private and the public is overran. I have few employees of those owners who I can work out trade once and a great while. It’s actually really sad. This is a beautiful state, everything you could want within minutes to hours, depending on where you live, and it’s been completely ran and mismanaged by f#@king idiots. Been through the Avenue of the Giants back when i lived in noethern cal and drove north along 101 going up to Crescent City and Arcata. Very primal feel standing and walking near these giant trees and gigantic ferns. I can picture some raptor or dinosaur popping out from behind some moss covered tree. I'm sure I've been through where you were camping. Did you see any billboards asvetsising turkey size zip lock bags? Now who needs turkey size zip lock bags? Pot dealers. A turkey size zip lock packs up a lot of dried marijuana buds. You're in the green triangle, the pot growing capital of the world.

Free overnight parking was rarely a problem. Truck stops with big parking lots are along all big routes with tiolets, food and sometimes wifi. Shoppng mall parking lots are everywhere. Perhaps these aren't the most scenic or quiet places but for one night so be it.
