I spent 2 nights and 1.5 days in Washington D.C. the weekend after Thanksgiving. I got the train from Charlottesville, VA (where I had previously celebrated Thanksgiving with my host family- you can watch that vlog on my channel), which took 2.5 hours and cost $15 (bargain!!!).
I stayed at U-street pod hostel and it was my first time staying in a pod hostel, it was awesome. It was $48 per night for a pod in an 8 pod dorm room, which I thought was pretty expensive for a hostel, but this is America 😅
The hostel itself was nice, but breakfast wasn't included - there was a little Cafe in yjevlobhy where you could purchase hot drinks and pastries, though and I got glass in my foot inbyhe communal showers which hurt 😒
This would not have happened if I'd wotk shower shoes though (always recommended in hostels), however, I only planned this trip 2 days before when I found out my host family and I were flying out of DC airport to head navy to the west coast after our Thanksgiving trip, and they didn't need me to work over the weekend so I just had to tick DC off my list!
Annoyingly, because I booked this trip so last minute and it was a holiday weekend, I couldn't get tickets to any museums (except one which I stupidly never actually used- watch video to find out more) or to go up the Washington monument. Luckily DC is still a great city without doing any of them but if you are travelling here and booking it in advance then I recommend booking these activities as early as you can in order to actually get tickets 🎟
Anyway, enjoy the vlog, ask me any questions in the comments and thanks for watching ✌🏼
