Personally I found out that even since Southern's Atos version rolled out, it's difficult to catch when the announcement would play, usually when the train is already approaching, making it difficult to record a good quality announcement. What's more it's making one announcement per train instead of Ditra's 3 announcement per train. Very frustrating.

I think that's the best time to announce a train, then passengers know their train is about to arrive and they don't need to hear their train announced 3 times over. Also, surely the fact that you know the announcement only plays when the train's arrival is imminent means you know exactly when an announcement is about to happen?

Not exactly, because the timings that a train arrives at a station fluctuates, even you're looking at the station platform PIDS screen, you may still be caught off guard by the sudden change. By recording at Ditra's stations at most of my time, the first announcement always come 2 mins before the train arrives at the station(applicable to all Southern and SWR's Ditra stations), and I always start recording at the 0 second at that minute and achieve more than 90% rate of success, however for Atos it only starts announcing a train announcement when the train is approaching, which is to the time when Ditra announces "The train now approaching Platform X"announcement, which is very difficult to guess when the announcement would be played, especially when you can't see or hear a train approaching due to the nature of a particular station( Not all stations platforms and the lines linking towards it are straight, right?) Beside, if a train announcement is relatively long, then it might be disturbed by the train noises whilst it enters the station, affecting the quality of the announcement, that's what I'm worried about.

I saw what's in Brighton, it is so cool! So, the pier is nice with some arcade games and pizza, the beach is cool and Kings Road Playground is nice but not with the shortcut, it makes everyone wait in line. And my hotel was nice. So, you should check out Brighton to!

pretty sure milton keynes announcements are on platform 5
