I take a walk around East London in Whitechapel, Shoreditch and Spitalfields. Whitechapel was the former home to Jack the Ripper, an infamous murderer whose identity was never found. I also explore Brick Lane, a street filled with cool places, a large Bangladeshi community, and bagel shops.

You should also explore London using the buses. I have extensive bus knowledge from North West London to South East London. They are good for getting around London radially and short distances but you really need trains for long distances. But buses do help. They also help Sunday Night to Thursday Night when the Tube, Overground and DLR had shut down. There are 24 hour buses and Night buses. And these days some of the newer buses have mobile phone charging (providing you have a USB-A to USB-C cable). The Tube runs throughout the night, Friday & Saturday on Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly, Central & Victoria. The Overground in the east, runs to New Cross Gate on same days throughout the night. The service is slightly cut down in that not all parts of the lines, run. They call this "the Night Tube" and it is worth knowing about. So a combination of Night Tube, 24-hour Buses & Night Buses can keep you moving throughout London in the night.

At 18:02 AK walked straight passed the old Whitechapel Bell Foundry, notable to the U.S as the place where the Liberty Bell was cast. He didn't even notice. I believe the business went bust a couple of years ago after 450 years of existance.

You should visit Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead (Part of Newcastle area) with the largest shopping centre in Europe called the Metrocentre, its a stones throw away from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and you can get either the bus with takes approx 10-15 mins or the train direct to it. Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Eldon Square) Gateshead (Metrocentre) Both quite huge but Metrocentre is the largest in Europe.

The corner building at 27:15 was built as a chapel for French Huguenot refugees, then converted to a synagogue, then a Methodist Chapel, then a mosque. There are quite a few mosques a few doors down from synagogues in the area -the area was once a Jewish heartland in the 19th and early 20th century. The Bangladeshi steadily moved west from Limehouse over a century ago -it is near 200 years old, and a sizable community dates from 300 years before. On a Sunday the whole district comes alive, and is packed with people and tourists as six markets interlace across the different districts -hugely popular with hipsters. It's also a major nightlife area, very artsy now going mainstream.

Hi. The stories that still perpetuate in the USA date from WW2 when US servicemen came to the UK in preparation for D-Day and they arrived when there was rationing (including foods) that had already been in place for a few years by the time they arrived. Of course the food was bland as there wasn’t a lot of the normal foods coming in from the rest of the world due to the German torpedoing of shipping. But the British people were still hospitable and gave up what little food they had to the US servicemen who were billeted in their homes. Of course then when they returned to the USA they complained about the food instead of being grateful that their hosts had barely enough to feed themselves but were still hospitable to them. By the way, Spitalfields is pronounced like spitting. Sorry if that sounds harsh and I’m not having a go at you but you’re right, most tourists just ask for a couple of dishes that they’ve heard of and don’t try the amazing variety of cuisines and fusions we have from settlers from all over the world that have been influencing our cuisine and culture for the past 2,000 years. Much like the USA over the past few hundred years. Fly tipping is the illegal dumping of rubbish.

The food market should have been on the cultural trail before you went under the bridge with the train tracks, there should be an entrance that leads you to a court , on the opposite, right side of the street that you walked on. I couldn't spot any signs though, I was there few years ago when I visited London. It may be at 31:04 , where it says Backyard Market on the wall, Saturdays and Sundays.

Nice to see a Turkish restaurant on both sides at the entrance to Brick Lane 🤣 I wonder how long Banglatown will exist? This part of London is well known for its changes in cultures, due to it being a poor area with cheap rents. The Huguenots were 'moved on' by putting up their rents, I'm not sure why the Jewish community left the area. I do know there must be pressure to 'gentrify' since the Overground opened at Shoreditch, or maybe it'll stay Banglatown forever!

You were right about Whitechapel high Road. It's actually Whitechapel High Street (outside Aldgate East LU station) and technically the centre of Whitechapel, it turns into Whitechapel Road at the junction of the street leads up to Brick Lane. The Aftab Ali Park (little green area on Whitechapel Road is where the actual Whitechapel church stood and was knocked down). It's not where Whitechapel Station is situated which is on Whitechapel Road. Jack ripper did his deeds around Brick Lane Spitafields part of Whitechapel. Limehouse was the original China Town back in the Jack the Ripper days and has the largest Chinese population in London! Where you walked was technically Fare Zone 1 so you are still within central London.

The residential streets that you showed in the first half of your video aren't really where you will find many poor immigrants living. Those houses are worth £1m>. The poorer residents can be found living on the public housing estates, which you didn't show. Had you continued south of the Commercial Road you would have stumbled into a lot of them.
