James Dean is so handsome, he looks great in anything. He looks so modern and he had the hair, face, and body to pull it off. Great observation :)

I agree with some of the users on this forum. The Julie-Jimmy romantic scene in East of Eden was beautiful, and glorious. You forget the six-year age difference and enjoy the meeting of lovers, although Abra loved Cal's brother, Aaron, to Cal's own jealousy. Thanks for presenting.

I saw him at the age of 7 in Rebel Without a Cause (how ironic). I instantly fell in love with him and I thought he was the most beautiful male specimen to ever grace the screen. I'm 41 years old and I love him even more now :) I have all three of his films too and I would LOVE to get his tv movie collection, that would be awesome! Good luck on getting the collection.

James Dean's best movie! OMG he was such a great actor and sexy, too! He died too damn young! Julie Harris was wonderful in this movie, too, even if she did get on my nerves sometimes.

My absolute favorite scene in "East of Eden". She really earned Jimmy's trust and this scene allowed his inner acting skills come alive with so little mannerisms & how he can hold her gaze.....beautiful.

you can tell he wouldn't have aged well though, he already had dark lines under his eyes, he had a combination of older facial lines for his age and youthful expressiveness which was great for a young actor

By far my favorite scene in East of Eden! Cal finally has Abra to himself and she can open herself up to him. I think Julie Harris was wonderful with James Dean. She just had the ability to diffuse Dean's insecurities as this was his first big film. She is also the only one where he trusted her off screen and it transfers beautifully to their chemistry on screen. He also can keep his eyes directly focused toward hers throughout the film. I have always been curious about his interaction with Jo Van Fleet as his mother. His scenes with her also ring so true. I could swear I have seen photos somewhere of the two of them together laughing it up while in one of those photo booths. Jimmy did have the reputation of being extremely difficult very much as she did. I wonder if they enjoyed each other's company as both were known as "rebels". I'm so glad this particular scene is posted. :)

James Dean brilliant as usual! He was the most expressive, sensitive actor and just as charismatic today as in his brief genius career then. It was a sad loss to the world that he was taken from us so young.
@@paulascaglione9701 jealous of what I watch people who play rebels better than James Dean Marlon Brando the wild one Elvis Presley jailhouse Rock Robert mitchum thunder road these guys know how to play a rebel they were more suited for those Rosles then James Dean it was never convincing at playing the rebel at all is definitely no reason to be jealous of James Dean whatsoever

Beautiful love scene between Julie and Jimmy, Cal loves Abra for a very long time was jealous of Aaron for a very long time, didn't know if Abra loves him back, but when she touched his hand, he suddenly realizes that she shares exactly the same feelings for him that's why this scene is so moving, this recognition of her love....
@LuvTadnDixie8 жыл бұрын
I think he responded because she said he was "nice" and he was always told he was bad by his father. That really got his attention. She sees good in him.
@makeittrue6 жыл бұрын
@@LuvTadnDixie I agree. I also find when she says how nice he has been in "taking care of her" that she strikes a chord that is existent in Cal. Everyone else sees him as just being irresponsible of his actions and lacking any positive traits. The idea that Abra thanks him for being responsible (protective) of her even though it is just during the limited time they are at the carnival together creates a bloom of adoration. Perhaps, it also foreshadows the ending where his father finally acknowledges his love in his need for Cal to "take care" of him at the end of the film.
