Keith Warren....You are a great guy to help a young hunter get a good start...this kid will always remember you long after you are gone....He will tell his kids and being with his grandpa is one of the most exciting things a kid will remember! Thanks for the great video!

Awesome video...& Ur rt Keith. Time is really what's most important with kids. Spending the quality time & the best possible part with it is...he got 2 nice eating sized hogs. So glad You gutted, somewhat processed,& packaged the meat for him to take home. Also, to eat his kill & sit at the campfire...hangout & "tell lies" about the hunt is absolutely priceless!! Great video Keith. I'm sure he will tell EVERYONE he possibly can about it for yrs to come!!

I’m nearing the big five O’ now and love shootin’ for pleasure i.e. reloading for handguns and tinkering with my rimfire/pcp/springer rifles. For some unexplained reason whilst watching that young boy experience his first hunting experience, I feel like that could have been me (should have been me). Now never ever hunted in that sense, except for taking out a couple dozen pigeons and pesky rats, I’m inspired to share priceless and valuable “time” with my 11 year old boy and connect with him through introducing him to my various pellet gun rifles (pcp and springers) and my 22 Lr bolt. Thanks Keith for igniting in me the joy of connecting further with my son by watching this precious moment with you, Davis and his grand dad!

Hey Keith, can you get on Gamo about their decline in quality control? The whole airgun community is complaining about it, at least those who are not sponsored by them. I went through 8 rifles having to return them for warped stocks, broken springs and extremely inconsistent power. The one I got didn't even come greased from the factory.

Due to shoulder injury's I can not use my 30-06 any more. My 17 HMR doesn't seem to bother it. Can not use it for deer hunting thought. Any recommendations on what would work for this old man??? Honest question; what would a poor man from AZ have to do to get to hunt hogs with you in Texas? I have a 30-06, a .50 Hawken percussion (my favorite) and .357 Ruger GP100 I could bring. I just need the opportunity..
@smokedbrisket30338 жыл бұрын
Adui13 lots of places in texas for budget hog hunting, especially in the summer. total cost usually depends on how many hogs, and total weight. Still going to run 500 to 600 usd
@Adui138 жыл бұрын
Figured as much. add in the trip cost, which would be cheap enough if I can camp out on or near the hunting property, and I will have to wait till next year I am afraid..

Well, it's not as bad as you imagine. For that money, you generally get an afternoon and night hunt the first day, 3 or 4 hunts the middle day, and another morning hunt on the last day. Also, that money covers lodging, meals, and gratuities for the entire stay. They put you in blinds or stands where the hogs have been seen, and they generally throw out lots of corn. I've been on a few of them. It generally isn't a question of whether you're going to shoot a hog, it's a question of how many you're going to get to shoot at. My buddies and I went to a place in Gonzalez, Texas at the end of August. We shot 14 hogs in one day between the 3 of us. We didn't see anything the first night, but I expect by the end of the 2nd day, we probably let pretty close to 100 or so get by us to get those 14. Total hoof weight of all hogs was about 1050 lbs. Split 3 ways, the whole hunt cost us maybe $600 apiece. I think Keith Warren has maybe hunted the place - it's called Freedom Ranch. It's definitely a budget kind of a place. The owner even does monthly drawings for a "free" hunt. You still have to pay for the hogs you kill, and the gratuities, but lodging and food is gratis. If you go there, you definitely need to spend some money on a GOOD rechargeable flashlight that has a red lens on it. Lots of other places will rent you a flashlight like that, for maybe $10 for a weekend. This place is totally no frills. You need to bring your own feed, 100 lbs of corn is fine, and before the first evening hunt, you'll need to run into town and buy maybe 100# of ice. We ended up with about 250 lbs of boned out meat total for that, so for the money, you still get pork at maybe $7/lb. A little higher than the grocery, but you also get the fun of the hunt thrown in. So, not a bad deal at all. The hunts are fun, but they're a lot more fun if you go with a buddy or two.
@Adui138 жыл бұрын
So your saying that money covers the lodging etc, and All I have to add is the road trip to get there? THAT might be doable in the coming year!! Thanks for the info! Oh and as for the cost per pound hunting has not been "economical" when compared to the grocery store in my lifetime, so that is a given. But the added cost is SO worth it when you throw in the adventure and entertainment you get out of it!

i could shoot a $40 walmart pump gun out to 85 yrds before it drops 2 inches , i know for a fact because we have a little pong and we floated a water bottle with a weight on it kind close to the bank so we could retrieve it and there was a hill on the south side and we could smack it no problem , granted we were on a hill but still it didnt move but an inch from where it was sighted

How come you haven't bled them yet? I've helped butcher all my life and as soon as dad pulled e trigger he'd hand me the gun and I'd hand him the knife so he could get them bled before the blood started to coagulate in the veins.. I would think it even more important shooting them with the pellet with no blood loss.
