I should mention that Wadi Al-Seer and Al-Bayader and Al-Rawnaq (and maybe other areas like Jubeiha and Sweileh.. I'm not too sure) form a good chunk of west Amman, but people are not as rich and westernized as in Abdoun and Dabouq for example.. also there are parts of west Amman that are dedicated for certain things, like Sweifieh which is full of shops and malls, and like Al-Sena'ah which is an industrial area. such parts of west Amman are not really known by their people, because not as many people live there.. I just think Amman is way too diverse to be devided into 2 .. I also think that the differences are quite subtle to the point they're not worth discussing that much..

This is true, most people from east amman group all western amman areas to fit their narrative, aka westernized, brainwashed, filthy rich etc While the areas you mentioned live a very normal almost conservative Jordanian lifestyle. Side note: Al bayader is actually part of Wadi Al Seer, it's a common misconception to think otherwise. :)

I agree with you on the subject of girls’ clothing..I'm a resident of Tabarbour..When I was young and by young i mean 5 years old, I was surprised when I saw an young girl who did not wear the hijab..It was a little funny when I remembered it..I would like to add that there are areas in East Amman that we do not consider much of East Amman, which is an area Abdali Towers. Also, when I go to Jabal al-Weibdeh and Shmeisani, I feel like a tourist, and everyone looks like foreigners, men with long hair. The vast majority of shop owners have large tattoos on their arms. . Once I went to (City Mall) and was surprised by the girls' short clothes and that they go out with guys under the name of friends..when i go there I feel that this place is strange to me.. as if I left my country.. and I feel very uncomfortable

I hate to go there ,I can endure living in a western country but not in western Amman to be honest ,,you feel that their identity is completely missed up

The entire number of refugees from the west of the river is this, but they traveled to Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Egypt, Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, which were all part of Jordan. All of these totaled half a million person. A half-million people will not be able to fit into the downtown area at this time.

Very informative video.. thanks 👏 I would add that East Amman's people, streets, houses, facilities, mindset, culture and others are more like all other parts of Jordan, from Irbid up in the north to Aqaba in the south.. While West Amman represents a very tiny portion of Jordanians who's the majority of them live their lives and raise their children as much as they can just mimicing and blindly following the western countries life style, like European and American people, thinking they become more civilized doing that.. while they are actually becoming Religeously and culturally lost people.. they are Arabs and Muslims by name "and some don't even have Arabic/Islamic names" and western by mindset, behavior, religeon, dress and language. Hope they wake up soon and hold tight to their true language, culture and religeon.

I guess you could say I’m in the middle. I didn’t grow up here, not during the school months at least. I grew up in Kuwait but I spent all my summers here in Jordan. And my cousins all live here. I’m of Palestinian origin, but we didn’t get the Jordanian citizen ship during the nakba because my grandparents already had owned land in modern day Jordan before the 1940s and had “Jordanian citizenships” before, but they just didn’t live here. So we’re originally from the west bank of Palestine ( which technically was under Jordanian rule as it was annexed by Jordan until it was lost to Israel in 1967). Anyway, I would say that Marj Al hammam in west Amman is far from what Abdoun is. (Where you’d see people more liberal in their clothing and religion/culture as you’ve said) if you did that here well you’d definitely get stares. But it’s also not like the camps and it’s not as crowded as in the east. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it’s not all of the west, it’s rather a smaller portion. I visit the east every other day but even then I don’t need to because here in Marj Al Hammam you still see that heavy culture that you’d see in the east, except u have a less amount of REALLY poor people.

I think you said alot thing that are correct, but would like add one of the main reason that west Amman kids don't speak Arabic well is because they mostly dual nationals that were raised in US, UK etc and west Amman provides them best of both worlds the option to live like in US where there is a Starbucks or Zara and if they want go to for shawarma then they go to east Amman. Just an example. There parents know this so aim to purchase flats or houses there. Another reason that u might not know is most of west Amman was offered to university teachers engineers and professionals as cheap land and some times as grants so naturally they tend to be middle and upper class of amman. Also a sad fact, girls from West Amman struggle to get married more than east Amman because of the silly thinking of society that eastern Amman girls are better. When i was young in the 90s sweliah was the area that everyone wanted to live now it is considered part of east Amman. Crazy and can imagine it changing again. I think the second point i would like to make is the way you talk about the people is very Colonial and sometimes offensive. My father is Jordanian and he never ever taught me that Palestinian or Armenians or Chechen or many other communities are anything other than Jordanian. Please try to understand especially when you talk about Palestinians understand we are no different and are brothers and one family. You talk Palestinians down too many times i have ignored in the past but can't anymore. Infact most the tribes in Jordan have branches in Palestine and are intermarried. Like my dad. Like Irbid are intermarried with syrians. The way you explain it is too simplistic and mostly wrong. At least say they were forced out there lands mostly because of the British your ancestors and how the British created Jordan. You know the rest.

Some of the information is wrong in the ancient Arab north, it was only Syria and Palestine, and there was no such thing as Jordan or Lebanon, but rather pieces of the Palestinian-Syrian lands that were divided. Another thing, West Amman is similar to many rich Arab countries also in the housing system. It is not a new system for the Arabs. This method of construction has been in existence and still is.

Yeah, I was confused when she said at 2:54 "Armenians and Jordanians" and I've wrote to her that there was no such thing as a Jordanian nationality yet, so she should've used "Armenians and Arabs" but I think she has a certain agenda backing her or giving her info, as one of her past videos she called chechens as refugees? eventhough they were in what soon became jordan in the early 1900s and formed major cities

The bottom line is poverty, and there is a large percentage of society, no less than 70%, who suffers from this, because any citizen who heads a family whose income is less than 600 dinars is considered poor and is permissible for him to give charity. There is also unemployment, as there are many young people who have finished their education and are of tender age, but they do not have job opportunities. Also, prices are constantly increasing because we are an importing country and we do not control international prices. So I'm sorry full for our country. That's it 💔 And who agree with me...?

It is not that west Amman is so advanced (in the west, they are still backward and not as developed as where I live in the Netherlands- they still need a light year to get there), but it is East Amman that is completely backward, primitive, and filled with religious fanatics who follow all of religion's rules! (Only some small enclave in west-Amman) Is actually a little westernized. but the majority aren't.

What is the problem in following religion? If you do no harm to other's you are free to practice your religion right? You try to force your thought and way of living on us.

@@nabilkhatib9134 but islamic religion and many other religious caused alot of harm's and don't tell me about forcing thoughts on others because you religious people are doing it all the time and the whole religion thing and why religion is still alive because of forcing ideas and sick ideology and I have the right to say my opinion and criticize whatever I want. You can't silent me. If you don't want anyone to force any ideas then stop religion first. It can be only one sides...it is funny how you guys acting liberal only when it serves you. That is not how it works. Lol

2:54 "you mean Armenians and some -Jordanians- Arabs" as Jordan wasn't even a country yet, the Jordanian nationality wasn't a real thing yet, and wording it that way implies that Circassians in Jordan aren't Jordanian?! A Jordanian Circassian holds a Jordanian ID and a Jordanian passport, he has all the rights of Jordanian citizens, we own most lands in Amman, and sold the most. also nevermind Robinson Luiz visit to early Transjordan which proved this as he said "Amman became a huge Circassian village with 10,000 Circassians alone" 1890. Chechens in Jordan are Jordanian, Armenians in Jordan are Jordanian, Arabs in Jordan are Jordanian, the Jordanian nationality has nothing to do with your race and that's the beauty of it as it gathers people of all races, cultures and religions in one small land. Please change the way you think.

saw your comment....fully agree with all you wrote except for 1 point... all the nationality groups you mentioned that settled 100years ago or more, are the same race. The nationalities and religions differ, but they are all from the same race.

@@greenleaf8226 Nope, Arabs aren't the same as Caucasians, and different races exist within Caucasians themselves, Armenians aren't genetically Caucasian, Circassiasn aren't Avars or Vainakh and many other differences. Caucasian doesn't mean white skinned... that's the American way of thinking, which is wrong... So yes my point still stands, a Jordanian isn't always an Arabian

@@greenleaf8226 I'm sorry there has been a misunderstanding, I'm not implying that you're an American, I'm just saying that the Americans have spread their way of thought to so many people that it affects the way people think when they hear certain words, they've did it with the "Native Americans" too. The Americans labeled whites as Caucasians without looking through who the Caucasians really are and how many separate Caucasians there are, the Natives faced the same fate, as they're not all one big tribe of the same race, they got the Navajo, the Mohawks etc. Americans looove to play with races and divide people and unfortunately you for example came up with he misinformation that all Caucasians have the same race/genes and only differ with nationality or religion, that's the reason I said "American".

I definitely agree with you and I think it was an honest mistake on her part, don't take it to heart. She's made a video before on all ethnicities in Jordan so I do believe that she simply misspoke. Circassians, Chechens, Armenians or whatever background are Jordanians as mush as an Arab is.

Any and all countries are corrupt. Last time I checked you all hardly pay taxes or even have to deal with laws. In the US so many people are homeless yet Middle Easterners don't realize this and think money grows on trees. If we don't pay our property taxes the government takes our home away, if we don't pay taxes we get thrown in prison, we too cannot afford it. In the US if you throw litter then you will be fined and perhaps imprisoned (in Jordan littering is common). You all have really close shopping centers and tight knit communities, you won't starve. In the US you need a car because everything is far, no one will help you, you pay for everything. And those social programs in the US? We pay for those, it's expensive but when we apply because we're in need it takes months and we get rejected. These politicians and the military industrial complex steals so much money and we receive none of it. If you need medical treatment in this country prepare to pay thousands of dollars (the number one reason for bankruptcy in the country and it is never forgiven meaning you have to pay for it as long as you have a running balance as long as you live). Almost everything is illegal in this country, the way you drive, the way you cross the street, the way you behave, etc. are important to keep in mind and you must abide by the laws. We have 500,000 homeless people (I'm sure this is an underestimate), the top 10% own 90% of the wealth, we have the highest cancer rates, the most death from diabetes (insulin costs so much like $350 a bottle), and so on. So get a job, make a business, educate your community, create a program, become a farmer, go outside your city to see new perspectives/opportunities, just do something with your time and stop complaining so much. NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU.

Corruption spikes as a result of poverty, not the other way around...the reality is people who prosper are not bound to land, but move regularly as employment shifts. Working and living abroad is the new normal for most countries' populations under age 50. Anyone with skills has to be willing to move to where the demand is...staying in place, without modernizing education are resulting in the country falling deeply behind in economic competitiveness and ability to engage in the global economy. Until mentalities change, things will worsen.
