I agree jim was a racist. But ppl forget jim comes from another time. It was a "norm" for him. im not saying jim was right or siding with him just that we are products of our environments. Jim was probably raised with prejudice parents. I hope some of you keep that same energy when talking about Sean slater. He too was a racist. Look at the way he treated Patrick and Gus. Also look at Dirty Den, he didnt want Sharon with the young black boy back when she was a teen. Look into it.
@H.K.54 жыл бұрын
Sean wasn't a racist. He did bully Gus but not because he was black. He didn't pick on Patrick because he was black either. He bullied Mickey who was white. He picked on Jack, Phil, Max, and Jase who were all also white.

Sean wasn't racist. He just liked easy targets. He also bullied Mickey and Darren and lots of other white people
@seanporter58674 жыл бұрын
@@Kyleeeeeeeee agree!. He just picked on soft targets it was ridiculous. I always remember him trying to pick a fight with "johnny allen" back in 2006 just because johnny was in prison, he wouldn't of dared to that if johnny was on the square. Sean would of been dead
@eb74464 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong, but Jim was worse than average. Not every white grandparent in the 90's would refuse to speak to their black son in law or see their mixed race grandson. The 90's weren't the 1950's. Jim changed, but that doesn't excuse his behaviour in the 90's. He owes Carol and Alan a massive apology, I wonder if he ever did?
@eb74464 жыл бұрын
I'm also not sure we can call Sean racist, as he had no trouble beating up white people or being horrible to white women alongside his black girlfriend whom he also mistreated. There's no indication Sean's behaviour was racially motivated. Sean beat a white sex worker in 2008. He was not adverse to hurting anyone.

@2270603 жыл бұрын
@@akarex2k9 Okey dokey. human beings are not set in stone, they aren't even set by their experiences up to a particular age. It can be harder to change their ways as they grow older, but not impossible. We had over 10 years worth of episodes depicting Jim's character and in that time he transitions from someone apalled that his daughter(s) would marry anyone too 'foreign' for his liking into someone who didn't hold those prejudices anymore. Not only was his best friend a black man, not only did he regularly socialize with Patrick's also back girlfriend/wife/family, but he accepted and cried over the loss of his black grandson too. Carol was wrong in this clip, lashing out due to grief. He didn't have any pictures of Billy because he and Dot were never given any. Carol was judging Jim for who he used to be not who he is. And in case you think this is JUST fiction, look up Daryl Davis, an African American who convinced over 200 KKK members to change and turn away from the organization, accepting that they'd been racist, that it was wrong and that they were going to endeavour to NOT be like that again.
