This is making me teary eyed, watching this during the pandemic, missing the passed. Will buy a TV and DVD player and watch old seasons.

Diane has some nerve. For all Pat's faults she was a good step mother. Miles better than she ever was as a parent.

And Pat actually started redeeming her faults halfway through 1987 and by beginning of '88 was a really nice person. She had a lot to put up with. A tart she may have been in her younger days (oh and Angie wasn't at times?) but Pat was used and treated like rubbish by most men she was ever with. And as for bad mother, enough of them round here are bad parents, and you're right, totally redeemed herself with her step-kids, and Janine is vile-a Yeti couldn't abuse her! Her sons Simon and David are NO different as parents, running off as soon as they have kids, pretending to do the right thing when they're dug up by them as teenagers, and then run anyway. Pat was brilliant with Frank's tyrannical mother-and wouldn't let him take her savings when he was happy to! She takes a lot of stick from David and Simon acting like stroppy teens-you're adults, get over it! To hear David in this episode sticking up for him mum for a change is nice, but I don't like how he has a go at her to others or to her face. And he can't fault Ricky-Ricky may be dopey, but he would never run out on his kids, and unlike Diane, remains around to help and muck in with Pat, and the first to deny Pat capable of taking money, and thankfully told his sister off for being so high-handed here when all she is is a messenger, and not a positive one. 'Lumbered y'self with a baby already, learning nothing from Disa', is what she Pat could have criticised her with. I would have. Thankfully Diane, later in this episode is going round the square taking in what she's missed since flouncing off to France . Having a go at Phil is brill, and well done for bringing up that poor guy who was torched alive in the car. Most seem to forget. She'd sympathise more, she was on the streets herself come the 80s end. She does show perfect wisdom when saying "Everyone knows fires don't work, insurance never pays out". Something to tell the writers, me thinks!

What's going on with Alan and that random guy by the phone box at the start of the video? Looks like Alan leaves the box, they exchange something, and then Alan returns to the box?!?! Makes no sense and it's bothering me

Not a random guy, Walfords number 1 meth dealer. Alan's in the phone box crowbarring it. Comes out pays for his rock. Then goes back in and blazes.

@K90_ 2019 what I've said is no different to the actual storylines you get. Having been through drug addiction myself, I've found making light of it the best way to cope!
