grant was actually uncharacteristically nice and understanding regarding mark's HIV, it was phil who taunted mark about it repeatedly a few years later

Phil only did it to try and get a reaction out of Mark. Even he was on Mark's side before he turned into an evil bastard.

Grant was actually always rather friendly with Mark. There's very few people you can say that about during Grant's 90s stint.

Grant was so damaged but he did have a heart. Unfortunately his bad side always triumphed over his good, with his terrible treatment of Tiffany being a prime example.

I feel quite sorry for Barbara in these scenes. She acted them so well and she's spoken about how much she hated having to do them. I heard she got a lot of hate from people who thought she meant what she was acting :/

This shows Grant wasn't a nasty piece of work.

A lot of his bad traits stemmed from PTSD from the Falklands I think. He couldn't have a healthy relationship with a woman because of it.

@@DeepScreenAnalysis He could be so sweet. Glad Alan stuck up for mark. Awful cousin was Ian. Couldn't even defend him. Always liked mark. He was a good guy

Back when Eastenders was an entertaining depressing show. Now it's just a depressing show.

People are so quick to judge They do not know what Mark was going through with HIV .Peggy had no right to blab

It's really a mark of very good scripting and a commitment to character development that Grant was given the opportunity to defend Mark's HIV status- it would have been extremely easy to have made him prejudiced and ignorant but by giving him the opportunity to relate what's happening to Mark to what happened to his army colleagues it shows that he and Peggy are not necessarily cut from the same cloth. A shame that was jettisoned later on when he started to abuse Tiffany after their marriage began to collapse.

I think Grant was probably the only one in the community to support Mark, even when he didn’t show that he was supporting him sometimes.

Grant & Mark actually got on well, Phil was the one who hated him, Grant respected Mark

Grant could be so sweet at times. Horrible to Sharon and Tiffany but understanding with Mark. Phil wasn't too bad here and he and Mark didn't seem to have issues but later did when Mark got with Lisa over baby Louise. Alan and Mark were good guys. Ian meant to be Mark's cousin and didn't even try to support him. Peggy was very bigoted but Grant had had experiences in the world where he knew things like that didn't mean people were bad for doing that. Peggy and Dot could be cruel
