Why do you feel sorry for him when you know what hes been like? He slept with Sharon while she was married to Grant, beat up Jamie when he was supposed to be lookin after him, tortured Lisa, started an argument with Dennis on his 1st day on the square, tortures Ian, slapped his mum, stole 20k from Roxy, used to constantly make Ben feel like hes not good enough to be his son, used Shirley etc.

I'm actually quite intrigued to see how they are taking this storyline with Phil, a potential loneliness/depression storyline is an interesting direction to take him in, everything is in place for it with Kat, Ben, Jay all gone and the new Mitchell's taking over the turf, to the point where Phil might end up with nothing left.

I’ve heard they’re doing a depression storyline with Phil so this all makes sense he’s pushing away everyone he loves and isolating himself I’ve also read he might turn back to the booze again and these are storylines which Phil performed excellently with being the alcoholic and I’ve no doubt he’ll smash the depression one aswell.

I think a Depression storyline is the way to go with Phil. Whether they add drinking to that I don't know. But it's something different for Steve to sink his teeth into. He's being hostile to others, more bitter than he's already been. He was grumpy but this is obviously deeper. He's pushing everyone away, including Raymond who he had clearly been doing well with!

There’s been rumours for a while they’re heading towards a loneliness storyline for Phil, some even speculating he’ll end up back on the drink which will end up killing him on EE’s 40th anniversary. I don’t see them killing Phil off but this definitely looks like the start of his loneliness storyline

I will tell you what bugs me about Eastenders is the way they have to make anything thats masculine a toxic thing. I mean, look at Denzels storyline... they have to put a negative spin on going to the gym and building muscle.
