EastEnders Revealed: The Return of Sam Mitchell

She's flirty, she's funny, she's sexy, she's sassy - and she's back.
Danniella Westbrook, the original Samantha Mitchell, is making a triumphant return to Albert Square, and BBC Three are going to celebrate the life and loves of this much missed Mitchell.
From her romances with Ricky, to her battles with Bianca, this good time girl has never been a Mitchell to mess with. And now she's back, Sam is sure to shake the Square to it's very core!
With exclusive interviews and behind the scenes footage of Danniella's first week on set, this programme steps back in time to see where her story all began, almost twenty years ago. As Danniella talks openly about her well publicised battle with addiction, the return of her character is a success story in more ways than one.

He created a Support Group called A Minor Consideration where Past Child Stars counsel the Current Crop of how to deal with their fame. He did it all A Former Mouseketeer, Pop Star, Employee Motown, Actor. In the 1990's it was a National Issue in The US. Kids from Eight Is Enough, Diff'rent Strokes, and Danny Bonaduce did every show (Tabloid & Legitimate) and talked about how hard his life was. Addiction, Homelessness, not having any Lifeskill Lessons but he got his life together.

Earning a living as a actor is never easy. Staying in the public eye is difficult too. It is going be confusing for the public having two people playing Sam Mitchell on and off. If a kid wants to go on and watch one of them in pantomime at the theatre, a child that watches EastEnders might say to their parent that isn't the same Sam Mitchell, is it? Kim Medcalf might need the money and wants to go back in the programme, so she can earn a living again. Adam Woodyatt, Letitia Dean and Natalie Cassidy grew up in EastEnders and have all had happy adult lives. Growing up famous, doesn't always ruin a person's life. They can adapt to the paparazzi and everything else that comes with it.

The damage is evident in her face. She didn’t even clean up her act, she just took a break. Cocaine has aged her so badly. She was only 35 here but looked in her mid 40s. It was shocking. Her appearance was even added into her storylines. Everybody mentioned how old she looked. Sam couldn’t even get a modelling job. There won’t be any problems with Kim Medcalf.

From 1982-2009 Four Actresses played Melinda "Sue" Mindy Lewis on Guiding Light, Krista Tesreau, Kimberley Simms, Ann Hamilton (who got fired after Four Months) and Barbara Crampton who also played Leanna Love (one of Victor's Wives on The Young & The Restless) and Maggie on The Bold & The Beautiful. To many die hard fans Krista was the "only" Mindy. I heard that Daniella Westbrook tried to get a Job on Emmerdale.

The whole reason as to why they brought Westbrook back was to reprise the old love triangle between Ricky Bianca & Sam and Wrstbrook & Palmer played rivals like no other and knew how to create fireworks more convincingly. Stephen Murphy was so right on about UK Soaps not recasting. For some folks it wouldn't be accepted. In the US "Recasting" is a way of life. 13 Actors played Jamie Frame on Another World, 13 played Tom Hughes on As The World Turns, when Sam #2 came along she had some major shoes to fill.

I think it would be very hard. I heard she has Osteoporosis which is The Bone Brittle Disease. I saw her on a Chat Show with Kerry Katona (Atomic Kitten), and I was shocked. It kind of reminded me of when Michael Zaslow (1944-1998) who played Roger Thorpe on Guiding Light on and off from 1971-1997 had ALS Lou Gherig's Disease. He looked so frail.

If anything in retrospect she was to UK Soaps what the US Pop Mall Singer Tiffany was in the late 1980's. A Big Star who found out Pop Music Giveth, Pop Music Taketh Away. You know what's so humiliating, she went from being the Star Attraction and New Kids supporting her and then she became the Supporting Act when New Kids became bigger than her. She later "outed" Jon Knight her Ex Boyfriend.

When they played "Maneater" it was so cool considering that besides being Written by Daryl Hall (His Former Girlfriend and Co-Colloaborator Sara Allen) as well as John Oates, Daryl in his own way has British Ties since he allowed Paul Young to Sing one of his Early Compositions "Every Time You Go Away". Daryl also refurbished and repaired Homes in England. He also got his start working with Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff who of course would epitomize the Philly Sound where The Three Degrees are still going strong.

Poor Daniella is an absolute mess these days, seen her about a year ago on James English and she looked like she was still getting coked up, There also a story of her being in the Red Room's with Brain Harvey he said the place was thru a hidden door and it was full of nonces, Brian said he would never knew about it if not for Danniella and she seemed very familiar with the place, you can go watch Brain Harvey talk about it on his KZbin account. Personally I think she's had a very hard life and fame at a young age didn't help..

I think that if Archie was a Better Father and if her Brothers weren't so obsessively protective, things may have been different for her. What I love about Eastenders is that the "Kids" aren't victims of SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) like in the US. They Grow Up before our eyes. If she were a US Soap Character A Fourth Actress would have played her like with Melinda Sue "Mindy" Lewis on Guiding Light. Also, they bring Families who have Staying Power unlike Coronation Street, and they have Black & Indian Families.

I agree. When Jacqueline Courtney was let go as alice matthews on another world (1964-1975) they recasted her and each one was horrible. Then Chris Hughes on it's Sister Show As The World Turns, was played by Christian Seifert from 1992 to 1998 from 8 to 14. Six other actors played him but they didn't have that thing. Sadly enough one of the Actors Ben Jorgensen who was Bipolar killed himself as did Billy Miller who played Billy Abbott #5 on Y & R.

The biggest irony was that they did a "Threesome" on The "New" Dallas with Pam Barnes (Cliff's Daughter) John Ross Ewing III and Emma (whose Mother is Married to Bobby Ewing, Wife Number 3 the other two being Pam and April). Oh here's another fun fact, Jesse Metcalfe who played Christopher Ewing dated Nadine Coyle of Girls Aloud whose Music was featured on Emmerdale. On The Oprah Winfrey Show several years back an Illinois Suburban Town was shocked by a case of STD's where The Boys did Threesomes and it was always Two Girls and a Boy, never Two Boys and a Girl.
