EastEnders Theme (1985) - Recreation

This isn't the full one with that bridge section, not really a fan of that bit to be honest so I decided to do the omnibus cut that would be played on Sunday afternoons.
I've had this one in the vault for a while, pretty much did it the same time I did the 1994 one. I've now grown to like the 1985 theme, I used to think it was so eerie sounding in a way but the dynamics of the piano and the DX7 bells really sound nice.

I used to watch EastEnders and with only one season I thought it needed more seasons. and now that you have created this, it brings me joy that at least someone else has seen or heard the EastEnders music. Thank you Sudrian Afro for making this.

Never been a fan of the soap, too miserable for my liking (no offence to anyone who does like it). But I admit I do like the theme tune of it, and this is an excellent recreation of it. Well done.

I admit the full version with that jazz section of the theme always felt a bit awkwardly pasted together. My favourite official 'long version' of the theme were those times they used the start of the gentler piano version ('Julia's Theme') to lead into an Omnibus length credits, like so. Made a nice concluding version of the theme, similar to Thomas' original ending when it had the big crescendo lead up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3nIlpKbr76Abtksi=yS6_94zAN4OxFpOH I originally thought they just reinstated the original recording of the theme after the jazzier 90s version, though I've come to appreciate the 80s version's more powerful drums.

Its hard to believe that it'll be EastEnders' 40th Anniversary in 2025. Felt like only yesterday that it was both the 30th and 35th Anniversaries (granted the 35th Anniversary became rather plagued by the dominance of Covid in 2020). But I'm curious as to how they'll top the 35th Anniversary's Boat of the Thames. Maybe a Tube crash (granted may sound too much like Corrie's Tram Crash, but they've never done a Tube crash in the Square before. A Bus yes, but never a Tube). Also I love how EastEnders's Theme has had a smooth transition into the modern world without sounding too oldie worldie.

i've never really picked up on how the eastenders theme has changed over the years... the intro was basically always the same, they just got better at rendering the thames to look realistic... what in particular makes the 1984 version "eerie" in a way the others aren't?

actually, now that I have looked at the 1985 intro again... there is an off-putting air to it, not just with the harsher-sounding instrumental, but the garish colours that make the town look black-n-white and more nebulous in structure, against the flat sky-blue playground-concrete river... and you can't quite tell if it's all a flat image, a CGI render, or an actual model city - an unease of nothing being quite clearly real looms over it, one which dissipated when things got more realistic in '94
