Weirdly the only episode I've been bored enough to stick around and watch (of the ponies... as they infest one of the higher numbered freeview channels) pretty much completely ignored what appear to be the main characters and concentrated on all those that would be, in most other shows, anonymous background filler with at most one throwaway line throughout the entire series. Instead they seemed to be fully fleshed out and have their own particular things going on and were remarkably cleverly written. Which I find quite encouraging. I mean, I'm still unlikely to sit down and binge a box set of it, but I am at least now a little less frightened of the possibility of being subjected to half a dozen episodes by a young cousin any time I'm round at the house she jointly occupies with my elder ones.

Be thankful that you can buy Kinder Surprise eggs in the UK. They're illegal in the US (where a federal act prohibits confectioneries with inedible objects embedded inside). At border crossings, they're literally treated as contraband, with possible fines of hundreds of dollars per egg. Nestlé seemingly ignored the law in the 1990s, briefly marketing its "Magic Ball" (a spherical imitation of Kinder's product) in the US before being forced to discontinue it. Nestlé later introduced the "Wonder Ball" as a replacement, with the foil-wrapped chocolate ball containing loose candy pieces (instead of a plastic ball with a toy inside) and a sticker packaged elsewhere in the box. More recently, the Atlantic Candy Company designed its "Toy Box" product specifically to circumvent the aforementioned law. The toy-containing plastic ball has a small ridge where the halves meet, which keeps the chocolate halves slightly separated (so the plastic components technically aren't embedded), thereby exploiting a bizarre loophole in a ludicrously broad law.

whaaaat is this "midage" Christmas tale? Coloring eggs and hiding them or hanging them on bushes and trees as decoration has been a spring tradition in many cultures since Ancient Egypt. Partly because eggs (and other dairy) aren't allowed during spring fasting (hence pancake day), and partly because they make really good, cheap ornaments like Christmas baubles. The former tradition (pancake day) is almost exclusively unique to Orthodox cultures and Britain; while the latter tradition is more prevalent in other cultures, including Germany. Also, doesn't Easter represent "rejuvenation" (Spring, resurrection) and not "death"? As for Lent between Christmas and Easter.... in the medieval ages, German common folk rarely had any meat or dairy during any time of the year, because it was extremely scarce. Often mothers couldn't afford milk for babes. Meat was eaten perhaps twice a year. One could say that fasting was a permanent condition in the olden days.

The hinge on the robin head is because it opens up and inside has a window inside it that shows a number from 1-6. The idea is that you get two of them, unclip the top of their heads, put them together and spin them against each other. Whoever has the higher number is the winner. For the twisty head robin some of the older versions you could open the head, put two together and play a game with them. But because parents said it was a choking hazard they stopped making them but it's smaller shops like Morrisons you could still get them

I am currently lying Smaug-like on an enormous pile of cheapo own-brand generic smarties I can't be bothered to eat that came out of Easter eggs. -and that hand puppet donkey looks like that race horse with the bent spine the Three Stooges used to own. Um, I guess that depends if you recognize a fictional version of an animal with a horn and/or wings stuck on as a subset of that animal... Honestly, I think it's close enough for the words of "pony" to still apply.
