A traditional Sung Eucharist led by the dean, the Very Rev Peter Bradley. The preacher is the bishop of Sheffield, the Right Rev Dr Pete Wilcox. Sheffield Cathedral Choir, conducted by director of music Thomas Corns, sing Jonathan Dove's popular Mass setting Missa Brevis, and well-loved seasonal hymns include At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing and Thine Be the Glory. The organist is James Kealey.

Some fabulous, uplifting singing from a cathedral full with people from a range of ethnic and social backgrounds, led by an excellent choir. It's really not easy to see why the D&C feel this isn't good enough apparently and has to change!

If this was the choir that sang every Sunday then there would have been no need for the D and C to take the action they did. As someone who attends the cathedral regularly I can tell you that it wasn't Thomas Corns who started to improve things was driven out by internal and external intrigue. Laterly the Sunday morning services were mostly ATB. There were no longer any resources for weekday choral services. The blame lies not with the last two DOMs or the Dean . The impossible and toxic situation was caused by others.

Given the recent decision of the Church, I reckon Choristers walk out and form a private all boy 4 part choir with the musical director doing wonderful Medieval music etc.. Offer your service freelance but get paid for it if you can to support your group if not, sing for free and build up a name for yourselves. There is nothing quite like the sound of an all boy choir with a strong treble section. It Can Be Done!

@TheSauce Group The Cathedral recently sacked its entire choir (who had all earned their places) because somebody decided it wasn't "diverse" enough. No matter that the majority of the black and brown members of the community have their own religious traditions, it's just not good enough to have a white choir. A white choir is not welcome.
