May your days be lengthened! - said the hakim and, giving the usual deep bow, left the king's bedchamber. Richard looked after the departing with an expression as if he was not quite satisfied with what happened between them. “A strange perseverance in this Hakim,” he said, “and what an amazing accident that his intervention saved the impudent Scot from the punishment he so deserved. Well, let him live! There will be one more brave man in the world. Now let's take the Austrian. Hey, is Baron Gilesland here?

why are they excluded from the other pacific island, I feel they are isolated. Is it because of the distance
@dasikakn10 ай бұрын
They are quite a ways away from any other pacific islands in Polynesia. They have similar but distinctive language and culture because of the fork in the journey. Just got back from there! What a lovely people they are.

Sir Thomas de Vaux came hastily to the call, blocking the entrance to the tent with his huge body; behind him, like a ghost, not heralded by anyone, but also not restrained by anyone, slipped an Engaddian hermit - a wild figure in a cloak of goatskins.

In addition, he must stick nearby on one side an inverted Austrian banner, dishonored by treacherous theft, and on the other side a spear with a bloodied head of the one who was his closest adviser or assistant in inflicting this vile insult. And tell him that in the event that he strictly fulfills our demand, we, remembering the vow we have made and for the sake of the prosperity of the holy land, will forgive the rest of his faults. “And what if the Duke of Austria begins to deny participation in this insulting and treacherous act?” asked Thomas de Vaux. “Tell him,” replied the king, “that we will prove our accusation on his own person-yes, on him, together with two of his bravest warriors. We will prove in a knightly way, on foot or on horseback, in the desert or on the lists; time, place and weapons let him choose himself. “Think, my overlord, of peace in the name of God and the Church between sovereigns taking part in a holy crusade.

It's kind of funny seeing a guy that has a Spanish accent because Spanish is clearly his first language talking about his Polynesian ancestors. In my opinion the narrative that Polynesians built those Moai statues is way off. There aren't any walls or statues remotely resembling any of the stone work on Easter Island west of Easter Island anywhere in Polynesia. Yet there were several centuries worth of highly skilled stone workers all throughout South America probably during that time period. So considering that indigenous South American Indians were highly skilled stone workers, they were also highly skilled seafaring people and natural ocean currents could have brought them to Easter Island, then it seems far more likely to me that they were the first settlers of Easter Island. Even if they weren't the first settlers they could have still been responsible for the Moai statues.

@@odpvvpdo2934 You can't say "por cierto" because nobody knows 100%. But here are two facts. For several centuries the Incan's built countless stone cities, massive stone walls and also large statues throughout South America. Fact two, the only stone statues found anywhere else in Tahiti are much smaller than anything found on Rapa Nui. In my humble opinion whoever built the Moai statues must have had many generations of experience and none of the stone work found anywhere else in Tahiti is impressive enough to represent generations of experience. On the other hand, Incan's definitely had the skill to do it, there's no question that Incan's had the skill to do it. Have you seen the wall at Ahu Vinapú ?, it looks exactly like an Incan wall and it's supposed to be older than the Moai.
@odpvvpdo2934 Жыл бұрын
@RNicolasRuvalcaba Жыл бұрын
@@odpvvpdo2934 You have a very valid point that early Polynesians were very experienced seafaring people but I keep coming back to the fact that all the other stone structures or stone tikis found on other Polynesian islands are extremely crude with no signs that they were even moving them as they were moving them great distances on Rapa Nui. There are also pre-Incan civilizations that fit your timeline and they were also very proficient at moving and erecting very large stone structures. In fact, if you look at many Incan ruins you can see that there was stone work added to earlier stone work but the earlier stone work is always much larger. BTW, I'm not the only person who thinks that indigenous South Americans could have sailed to Rapa Nui and other Polynesian islands, there are a lot of people that are a lot smarter than me that believe the same thing.. I guess life would be boring if we didn't have mysteries. Te aprecio hermano.
