I was totally astounded by your video of the island. You did a very excellent job in showcasing how beautiful Rapa Nui island is. It's easy to understand why tourists would love to go back again and again after their first visit. I wish I can visit too and hopefully in the very near future. But what do you think is the shortest route from the Philippines to Rapa Nui? Me and my wife are actually wishing to visit Rapa Nui after we saw videos (including your own videos) of the islands. I though before that Easter Island was a wild and inhabited by tribes like the ones in the Amazons. And I would like to apologize to Rapa Nui people for my grave misconception. I only knew Rapa Nui because of those giant monolithic figures I often see on magazines.

What are basic jobs on RaPa Nui ? In the States it's mostly jobs like working in construction, fast food , banks , grocery stores , a dollar general every 3 miles. Furniture factory, food process plants, gas station s, corner stores , bars , restaurants, and more bars, and pharmacies, those jobs are everywhere. And all the workers won't rise up in the company. Those jobs are a dime a dozen ✌️. Awesome video btw... I wish I could build a shack somewhere on that island and live out a great life ,,

WOW! BIG WOW FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND. Thanks Marc for sharing such a wonderful video of the whole island and the equally excellent narration. I wish the island were near to the Philippines so I can travel easily. I just found out that the people of both Rapa Nui and the Philippines are both Austronesians. The Philippines was the first islands to be colonized by seafaring Austronesians from Taiwan before they moved further out to outlying islands in Indian and Pacific Oceans in the succeeding centuries. And Easter Island was said to be the last to be colonized according to archaeologists (based on scientific evidence thru carbon-dating of archaeological finds) thus, the youngest island to be inhabited in the Pacific Ocean. Rightly so, because it's also the farthest reaches of Pacific Ocean, being the easternmost island. No wonder Rapa Nui natives somewhat look like the typical Filipinos with no Western heritage in their blood.

3:45 if you look at the small island from the "bird Island" you will see that it is an ancient, mostly eroded carving of a dog. 🐕 Looking out at the sea... My theory is that this part of the island was once surrounded by floating grass islands, like we see in lake Titicaca, the only other area in the world where these particular reeds grow.

What you said about Rapa Nui being the only underwater mountain poking it’s head above water is totally untrue. As a good example, what do you think the Hawaiian Islands are? The Big Island is actually the above water tip of the tallest mountain in the word. It’s a shame that your island is being overrun with settlers and tourists. I hope all the remaining natural areas are being managed wisely.
