Hi. I plan to visit the island in the second half of February 2019 with my 8 year old son. I begin by thanking this magnificent video that gave me a good view of the island. Let me put some questions to help me prepare my trip and stay. As for the accommodation, did you reserve it in advance or did that when you arrived on the island? Is the car the only vehicle that can be rented or is there another, for example a 4-wheel motorcycle? Does the rental of this vehicle have to be done in advance or can it be done directly on the spot? Is access to the tourist points free or is it necessary to purchase tickets to access them? I look forward to your response and thank you in advance. Thank you one more time.

Yes, absolutely. You can rent a bicycle and bikefrom Hanga Roa (main town in the south part of island) to Anakena Beach (north part of island) in about 16k (10 miles). If you want to loop the entire island, the distance is about 45 kilometers (28 miles). The roads are generally flat and paved with occasional potholes, so you should be ok. Have fun and good luck!

Before considering Easter Island, you should watch the latest Lost LeBlanc video on Easter Island in which he and his girlfriend are hassled by an aggressive ranger named Felipe near the famous statues. Felipe apparently makes a habit of hassling tourists and even breaking their camera equipment.
