Hi friends, I hope you enjoy this wild and incredible story. To address a technical aspect I’m sure a few commenters will point out 🤓🫶 depending on how you measure and which source you find, another island “Tristan Da Cunha” has claimed to be most remote. That’s because it’s 7-day boat ride to the nearest airport instead of the 4-day trip it took me to Pitcairn. But if you measure distance from closest continent, Pitcairn blows them all out of the park. Ultimately, Pitcairn’s unbelievable story is what made me chose to go there, you all know by now that a 7-day boat trip wouldn’t scare me away if the stronger story was on the other island. I hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it 🙏

l loved this travelogue. I've studied remote islands through philately (stamp collecting) since I was a kid in Minnesota. Pitcairn, Tristan da Cunha, St Helena, Ascension, and tiny Dutch Saba in the Caribbean were my focus. I have been president of the two study groups focusing on Pitcairn and the three South Atlantic isles through their history and postal service. At 73 now, I moved to Saba a few years ago and host tourists in my 164 year old original cottage to fulfill my dream of living on a remote island. We aren't as remote as Pitcairn or Tristan, but we do have an unusual claim: our pharmacist is Jacqui Christian...from Pitcairn Island! Come to Saba some day, stay with me, and you'll discover a fascinating history here, almost as good as a mutiny! Certainly our little dot is a drone photographer's delight for dramatic footage similar to Pitcairn.

Jesus Christ is the propitiation for the whole world's sins. They that believeth and are baptized (with the Holy Spirit) shall be saved; but they that believeth not shall be damned. Those led by the Holy Spirit do not abide in wickedness. 👍🏾 *God is ONE manifesting himself as THREE;* the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Bless him! *For these three are one.* As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God. Anyone who tells you differently is misinformed or a liar. They do not know God, nor led by him. Anyone who *claims* to be a Christian and is against what I am doing, and where I am doing it; the Holy Spirit does not dwell within them, they lack understanding. They know not God, read his word, and their religion is in vain. Do not hear them, they will mislead you, the lost cannot guide the lost.
@Call_Upon_YAH2 жыл бұрын
When you trust in God and cast your cares (worries, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts) upon him, they will be NO MORE! Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals! The world is wicked, evil, and of the devil. I too, was a wicked sinner of the world before I opened my heart to God. I am living proof of God's work and fruitfulness! He is an active God who hears the prayers of his! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous. The devil is a liar that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy; that includes your relationship with God. Open your heart to God, repent of your sins (he will forgive you), and let him direct your path. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands and purify your heart, lest you walk with the devil and follow him to hell.

Great video guys! Welcome to the exclusive club of people who have been to Pitcairn Island. ! I was on Pitcairn in 1991 as part of a documentary film crew following a group who brought medical supplies and medical professionals. It took us two years to get an invite and our videos helped raise funds to bring much needed supplies to the island. We did minor surgeries and dental work and fitted residents with glasses. Watching your video brought back a flood of memories. The long boats coming out to greet us, the ATVs on the hill of difficulty and so much more. Hearing Olive talk brought a smile to my face. It had been a long time since I’ve heard that awesome dialect formed from a combo of 19th Century Tahitian and English Nautical lingo. The island looks very much the same 30 years later, but the store is much larger now. I stayed in Fletcher Christian’s descendants’ house as well, in a little upstairs room with a high bed. The house has changed a bit and when we were there, Tom Christian and his family were living there. There were about 80 inhabitants on the island back then. We brought some new inhabitants with us who were raised on Norfolk Island near New Zealand. Their parents were moved off of Pitcairn in the 60s and they were part of a group of young descendants who were invited to move back to rebuild the population. Thanks again for posting this video. I bet your story of how you arranged to get there is equally as fascinating. I know ours was!

You have to stay 6 mo. before you can start building your house. Well, the Bounty mutiny is certainly not the only dark shadow over that island. In 2004, about half the adult male population was sentanced for sexual abuse of young girls. This included the mayor. I was touched watching this. Great job Thomas! As a Polynesian, it's always nice seeing our history being shared/told because, sadly, even though there is so much to be taught that many may not know about we are a dying group. And as with that, our history fades as well. I always think about this often, but I fear that if we aren't sharing these lessons and memories with people and if people aren't willing to listen, one day who we are and what we stand for will be forgotten. Lost, or as you said, become some sort of myth to most. This video hit home for me and I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you Thomas and the team for pulling this off, amazing work as usual.

The ancestors are still holding on to a historical treasure that should never be allowed to die. Knowing the British, who explored, settled and created many of our present day civilizations... just as there will always be an England, so will there always be a Pitcairn Island. Thank you for this most interesting tour, a lovely place... with its even more lovely people.

Having spent months on a tiny island in the South Pacific 1x.5 miles in size you learn to appreciate the small things it’s something deep that takes you to a primal place and you realize how little you need to be happy. You learn to socialize better because it’s isolation and the companionship is closer to the top of the items needed. It makes life precious and appreciated and in my case I hoped all people could experience it.

Main article: Pitcairn sexual assault trial of 2004 In 2004, charges were laid against seven men living on Pitcairn and six living abroad. *This accounted for nearly a third of the male population, and half of the island's adult males.* After extensive trials, most of the men were convicted, some with multiple counts of sexual encounters with children.[32] On 25 October 2004, six men were convicted, including Steve Christian, the island's mayor at the time.[33][34][35] In 2004, the islanders had about 20 firearms among them, which they surrendered ahead of the sexual assault trials.[36] After the six men lost their final appeal, the British government set up a prison on the island at Bob's Valley.[37][38] The men began serving their sentences in late 2006. By 2010, all had served their sentences or been granted home detention status.[39]

A very disappointing treatment of the “Dark Secret” of Pitcairn. Sure Adams was the last “beloved” survivor of the mutineers, but he was more like a cult leader. A broadly based culture of child rape existed in the island until fairly recently. That was the dark secret that drove many young women from Pitcairn away. Under the aegis of the New Zealand authorities those crimes were investigated, charges made, trials held and imprisonments carried out. All the people you talked are related to one another, but they will not talk about this dark past. I am a big fan, love your presentation and video, but this one was incredibly shallow.

I didn't even know that but even without knowing it, it was super shallow and the whole circumstances around the polynesian women and how they were brought there were already weird. It's such an obvious colonial and rapeheavy context that even without knowing about the child abuse trials it's so clearly there and to not point that out but make it a fascinating vacation and travelstory is such a macho and colonial mindset . Yet again for yes theory. Their masculinist attitude and content really deeply weakens them which is sad bc they could be so much better without it. I kept wondering: how did those sailors reproduce? where did the women come from? who were they? All those obvious questions were studiously ignored. As some commenters said before me, it's incomplete at the very least, and dishonest at worst, to not say a single word about Pitcairn's "scandal", the pedophilia which touched literally every family of the island. Nowhere else in the world has there been practically "mutually agreed pedophilia" among a large swathe of adults in a society. The remoteness of Pitcairn is beautiful, but the same remoteness seems to have unhinged the behaviour of many PItcairn 's adults. It's harrowing to read testimonies of Pitcarin children who dreaded being called out for boat rides or other outings by their dad and his friends when they "came of age", that means age 10 (yes, TEN).. as the men had mutual permission to sexually abuse each others' children. The women went along because the men were indispensable for physically demanding tasks that daily life in a remote island entailed. You mentioned the plumetting population, but again, you neglected to say that at least a good part of the younger generation left due to sheer trauma of sexual abuse.

Today I’m 25 years old and still dreaming of these kinds of adventures and I’m sad that I can’t do it, but I’m glad to be able to see it first hand on this channel. Even tho I can’t do it my self I still get to see it and feel like I’m there. So thank you for this and everything that you guys do. It brightens up my days. / Peace and love from Sweden❤

I am blown away guys! What a great documentary! I have been dreaming of visiting this remote island since I finished the Mutiny trilogy. I am currently in the planning stages to visit in July 2025. I'm hoping it's as amazing in real life as it looks in this film. And thank you Shopify for helping them to make it possible. Just amazing!

I really enjoyed this but for one thing: It was way tooooo short! Loved it! Great filming and story. I would love to go here and now I've been here through your eyes. Thank you very much! 🥰

I don’t know by what You Tube magic Yes Theory found me, but I feel blessed that it did. What beautiful, moving tales you guys share with your audience! And an episode like this, where the execution of the concept is matched by the videography, human interactions and writing is just plain awesome. As good as anything I’ve ever watched on Nat Geo or BBC, but so much more…human.

Through this kind of videos that makes me think that I can't thank Yes Theory enough for producing such amazing contents. You and the team really helped me to visualize my dream, the dream that I know can only stay in my thoughts. Thanks for virtually bringing me along through my dream destinations, lifestyles, culture, experiences. At least now I'm able to see what my dream looks like with my eyes opened.

They have a very disturbing culture on that island. Are you aware of what happened in 2004 and why there aren't any kids there anymore?

This is literally the biggest coincidence, my family is direct descendants of John Adams. I think he is my very great grandfather. My family is current living on the coast of NSW and a couple years back we did a ancestry study to know where we’ve come from and to find out our ancestors. We knew we were English and Tahitian but this video has given more insight that we could of ever known !!!
@bianco75042 жыл бұрын
If that's true , how do you feel about the population on the island becoming extinct?
@miakarooz-lipscomb46632 жыл бұрын
@@bianco7504 I feel awful but at the same time it was only in recent years before my nan passed away that we started our ancestry journey. No one in my family knew of our history and our relationships with the communities on Pitcairn. The population on the island has strongly adapted to their environmental conditions but I know if I was to join my family on the island I wouldn’t be able to survive. My family had moved off the island for more opportunities and because the marrying of second and first cousins. I finally found a piece of myself with discovering my family but I know at the same time that it’s a difficult and remote place to live and get too

You should visit Norfolk Island then where most of the descendants of the Pitcairn Islanders live today if you haven't been there. Does your family not come from there?

You are living the most badass life imaginable my friend. I on the other hand rarely go anywhere except I finally am going somewhere I always wanted to visit. It's not like visiting a remote island in the middle of nowhere but to me it might as well be, for the first time in my life I'm visiting Japan in December. You didn’t delve into the dark current situation on that island . Allegedly there has been a lot of child and incest issues there that were apparently quite widespread

When Thomas says horrible backstory he's referencing the fact it was a paedophile rape island until about 2005. Count dankula covers it in much more detail -- 'The Isle Of Nonces : The Pitcairn Scandal
