Hey! Hot cross buns are a British recipe, so if you look up Paul Hollywood or British Bake off hot cross buns you can see what it's supposed to look like. When he makes it he rolls it out, dumps the raisins and then folds them in by hand. They look tasty either way!

My father, whose dad was a baker by profession, was taught to make Hot Cross Buns for Easter. Every Good Friday of my life we had them. He even brought me some to the hospital when my son was born. He's gone now and last year I tried to make them. Still a work in progress for me but yours look amazing! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve started baking with a sourdough starter. For some reason I thought it would be difficult, but it’s not. Everyone who bakes should try it. Once you get a good established starter, it’s really easy. I keep mine in the fridge and try to make something with the starter once a week. I usually take most of my starter leaving about 2 tbs behind. Then add about 1/2 cup of flour and about 1/3 cup of water and mix well. I let sit on the counter for about 4 - 6 hours and put back in the fridge. This way I always have some sour dough starter ready to use.

First-time watcher looking for inspiration this Easter, LOVE it (subscribed)! Also, love that you're a prepper (my flour bricks have the same sketchy look). The pineapple casserole looks interesting -- when you chose chunks over crushed, I knew you weren't doing the same thing our fam does (I thought it might be). We do pineapple filling/stuffing and I dare you to pair a bite of it with your ham instead of applesauce. So amazing! You can find the recipe online as I haven't always been able to find my old index card. Butter, crushed pineapple, cubed bread, sugar, and eggs - all mashed and baked. Caramelized, custardy yumminess! A family member suggested baking in muffin cups to increase the caramelization ratio. Happy Easter everyone! 🐣

It’s corn off the cob not the husk. Husk is the green part on the outside of the corn. Not being a smarty pants just wanted you to know. The presentation of your food is beautiful.

All those Easter recipes look absolutely delicious especially those cheesy au gratin potatoes, baked to absolute perfection - and that corn and onion combination and of course those gently sauteed mushrooms. Have you considered adding some of that sherry cooking wine to those mushrooms? It definitely brings out the full flavor. I want to like hot cross buns, but I have never been pleased with any recipe I have tried. I think I am expecting a sweet roll on par with a cinnamon roll as far as sweetness goes. That’s not anywhere near a hot cross bun.

Wow, these all look delish! I've saved every one of these recipes. Try your Jello salad with Strawberry Jello (use a small and a large box, or just 1 large box of Jello)...other 4 ingredients the same. You may like it more than the orange salad...we call it "Pink Stuff" at our house!

Way to go trying out the hot cross buns. We use scissors to snip a cross in the buns before they rise and then after the buns are baked and cooled we pipe the cross in with butter cream.

Hey Kimmy, im from australia and we love hot cross buns! All our bakeries sell them leading up to easter, next time try them with chocolate chips instead of rasins. When they are baked cut them in half and grill them and top with butter!!

Kimmy your hot cross buns look beautiful! Also, I used to make an eight layer jello mold. Inevitably we would start to get dessert out and realized 😮we forgot the jello mold. This darn thing would take me two days cause it had to solidify between layers lol! Your orange jello would be perfect that is you remember to put it out 😂 just kidding. Look no big deal. I love the holiday meal prep videos! Just went shopping for the last few bits for a big brunch on Saturday and the Easter feast on Sunday! We always host the whole family for Easter Sunday, but since my birthday was last week we pull that into the brunch celebrations. Someone else has probably said this but cooking sherry isn’t near as good as regular sherry that you can pick up at any liquor store. Cooking sherry has salt in it. Pairing dry or regular sherry with mushrooms makes an ideal combination.

Hot cross buns are actually meant for Good Friday. Catholics do not eat more than one meal and two small snacks (that together do not equal a full meal) because we recognize this is the day that Our Lord died for us. Hot cross buns are very filling and keep you full for a long time so they’re traditionally eaten on Good Friday. Fun fact, German monks invented pretzels for fasting days too 😊

Are Hot Cross Buns popular in the US? They're an Easter feature in the UK and I have them every year (Got my eye on some chocolate ones and some Salted Caramel ones I saw last week in a local supermarket) My family typically toast them and serve them with butter, but maybe icing would also work if you wanted to do them as a dessert.

It all looks great. In the UK we usually have a roast dinner on Easter Sunday, which is often lamb. I didn’t realise that you had hot cross buns in the US. I thought it was just a British thing. We usually have ours for breakfast, or tea etc, on Good Friday.

I really liked your menu selections. Very different Easter menu than I am used to, I am going to try your menu next Easter! I have only one suggestion and I hope I don't hurt any feelings here. But, I think because your channel is all about being in your apron I think you should iron your aprons so they are nice and neat and I would choose brighter maybe bigger patterns on the aprons, maybe flowers or anything brighter. In Britain we split the hot cross bun, toast them then butter them, like toast. Please don’t put icing on the top.
