I make sweet potato casserole from scratch and it’s perfect every time. Preparing anything from the can for Thanksgiving will get you banned in my culture. It’s practically like a sin! I would share my recipe, but I am the eye ball queen! 😂 But I do sweet potatoes Pinch of salt Butter Heavy cream Brown sugar White sugar Molasses Nutmeg Vanilla Cinnamon A tad of allspice Marshmallow on top

My mom only made canned sweet potatoes but one year I roasted sweet potatoes then made them candied. Canned are nasty just roast raw ones the day before. So much better.

Ooooh, I am from England and ever since I was introduced to sweet potato casserole by a friend from the US I cook the dish several times a year, particularly at christmas- I even have marshmallows on top. It goes so well with a traditional British christmas dinner. The best sweet potato dish I ever had was , the casserole at Cracker Barrel, it is shmazing.

I make this every holiday. May I suggest, bake the potatoes in the oven then all you need to do is scrape the potatoes away from the skin. It's very easy and saves several steps and dishes.

I made a recipe when my grandmother was still alive and it was made with those exact yams that you used in the video. It also had green apples, brown sugar, all the fall spices and pecans. I started with butter in a skillet melted the butter and added the ingredients one at a Time with yams last. She loved it told me it tasted like apple pie without crust but better. Now that she has passed we make it every year for Thanksgiving to remind us of her.

I do sweet potato casserole every year but, it’s a little different then the one you made. 2 cans of sweet potatoes A can of pineapple tidbits drained 1 egg (Mix all together) Put into a casserole dish Put cubed bread with butter all over the top Add marshmallows on top Bake at 350 for 20ish min So simple and so good. Love that you tried sweet potatoes from a can and loved them. :)

We do the canned yams. I drain them well in a colander first. Then put them in the baking dish. Next a few small pats of butter here and there, brown sugar, and then the marshmallows. We love the marshmallows so I used a whole small bag for a yummy toasted crust. You can make pies, muffins, bread all the things.

Oh that cherry sheet pan pie!!! I need to try that for sure! My mom makes sweet potato casserole every year and usually has to make two because it gets devoured! She adds pecans to the topping (used to add coconut but some of us don't like coconut) and it makes it so good with a little added crunch, yum!

Hi Kimmy, I make sweet potato casserole all the time (it's a Southern staple). Canned yams or sweet potatoes work really well for this if you don't have sweet potatoes to cook. Also..... if you do wwaaayyyyyy more topping and sprinkle diced pecans over the top, it gives it a praline-like topping. It's amazing. I use Miss Kay's recipe in the Duck Commander Cookbook. Love your videos and can't wait for the planner next week!!!

We make mashed sweet potatoes (not canned) just the way you’d make regular mashed potatoes. I have a secret ingredient-a 1/4 cup of orange juice! They are so good. We aren’t fans of canned yams & no one in my family makes the marshmallow dish. Also, for your butternut squash recipe-I can see that being even better by chopping them into smaller, even, bite sized pieces, adding fresh cranberries, some thinly sliced fresh Brussels sprouts with EVOO & sea salt tossed throughout, then top with a bit of sage & the crumb topping. The healthier & more colorful, the better! In my opinion :)

I've been making sweet potato casserole since I was a little girl. Here in Texas we add butter, cinnamon, & a little bit if brown sugar. Cover the top with marshmallows & bake. My grandmother use to add pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon. OMGOODNESS it's like a pumpkin pie casserole. It is SO YUMMY!! Don't forget the Butter..

Our family has been making sweet potatoes in the oven from the canned yams or sweet potatoes for years. It's the only way we make them. I use 2 Lg cans of the sweet potatoes, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 TB butter, 1 full bag of mini marshmallows. Drain the potatoes and sprinkle them with brown sugar, place pieces of the butter all around. Cover with foil. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes. Remove foil. Pour marshmallows on top. Bake just until puffed and golden. SO good!

Sweet potato casserole was always on our table, Thanksgiving and Christmas. 1 large can Sweet potatoes, drained, heated and mashed on the stove. Add one small can crushed, drained pineapple. Then add 1 tsp. cinnamon, half tsp. cloves. Stir all together well. Place in greased casserole dish. Top with chopped pecans(cupful or to your liking), coconut (also to your liking) and mini marshmallows on top. Bake at 350° until coconut is lightly toasted and marshmallows melted and browned. Enjoy! Note: My mom always used canned Sweet potatoes and I did too for years. Then I tried fresh, on a whim...never went back to canned! I loved all your desserts in this video. 🙂👍

My mom always used canned sweet potatoes. She would drain them and then boil the juices down with some brown sugar until it became kinda like a syrup. She would pour that over the potatoes and bake them. She would add marshmallows a few minutes before they were done. My mother in law always made the sweet potato casserole with canned potatoes. She added pecans to the topping. So yummy!

We make pumpkin/sweet potato pies with the canned sweet potatoes and pumpkin. One can of each, rice the potatoes to get rid of the strings and follow the pumpkin pie directions. So good!!

I do similar to the canned yams you did but in addition I lightly sprinkle with brown sugar and I take a table spoon of butter and pop it in the freezer for a few minutes to make it really firm then I sort of mince it and sprinkle that on it too.
