Eastern Airlines Employee News Update

This video I came across from Eastern Airlines was sent out to their employees in the face of an IAM strike. This is a piece of Eastern Airline's history and combined with other factors ultimately lead to the demise of the once great Eastern Airlines. Anyone have clarity on who the commentator this is? I believe it to be Jim Hartz who did a lot of the NBC space coverage. I've seen him in a couple other Lorenzo-era videos like this and was wondering if he was hired by Lorenzo's management team as a PR shill or if he was in some sort of capacity in EAL corporate communications?

Thanks for posting this video. I was there in Miami when all this was happening...NOT.sorry to say, but the IAM is responsible for the demise of this great airline... I hope the new eastern will not ever have to deal with the IAM and the likes of that looser Bryan. all said and done, what did that POS union achieve? NOTHING!!!

Cherry-picked factoids, delivered newscast-style by an airline's paid public persona. He makes light of their on-time figures, but doesn't touch on their poor maintenance record, draconian rules designed to harass workers, or the infamous reputation of surly customer service which resulted from it. If Borman, whose only other job was in the Military, actually respected his underlings instead of trying to use them to build a huge Braniff-fancy route footprint, he never would have even had to consider a sale to the huckster Lorenzo. But, he wouldn't consider the unions' offers to bail them out in exchange for employee ownership. His type would only listen to similar advice if that advice came from the creditors. Better that their frontline workers start over young-ish with a strong, visionary airline than suffer a drawn-out expiration of terrible working conditions & unsafe planes.

Typical corporate propaganda video, but in truth Eastern's unions share responsibility for the demise of the company. Both management and the IAM could no longer see the forest for the trees, they both wanted to destroy each other and both missed many off ramps they could have taken to avert the strike, shut down, and liquidation.
