In Upstate NY - I have trail cam footage of a few that are easily 50 lbs. My neighbor (who owns a horse & cattle farm) - saw one that he initially thought was an Alaskan Malamute. Then saw the tail and knew at that point that his animal sighting was an Eastern Coyote...

Baltimore resident here and I can tell you. I have seen them here. Roughly a decade ago when I still worked in Chester County PA, a Philly suburb Malvern & Newtown Square to be specific. I saw Coye-Wolve multiple times. The first time I saw only one in a rear easement and I didn't tell anyone. It felt like I saw bigfoot or a dog I misidentified. The second or third time I seen them. Was when I startled a bunch of them and they took off running away from me. It hit me like a ton of bricks. "Holy shit, that's a small pack of Coyotes, wait we don't have Coyotes, wait they must be the hybrids I read about, oh F that's a small pack of Coy-Wolves and my DSAM meter is not a firearm. I need to get the hell out of here ASAP". That happened I believe off of 352, if my memory serves. I can tell you it was a 4 value 2 port tap at termination. That I am nearly positive about. Long ass drive way back to an old farmhouse. Circa 2012/14.

Anyone concerned about a coyote being unafraid, use an air horn or other loud noise. We had 1 people had obv been feeding, he’d walk up wagging his tail even. A few loud sound encounters, never saw him again. Also statistically speaking, deer are more likely to kill a human in an attack than coyotes.
