Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake

An extremely rare snake in North Carolina, the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake is only found in a few locations. A handsome and charismatic animal, the diamondback uses its rattle as a defensive warning. The diamondback is a true icon of the Southeast!

Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake Crotalus Adamanteus 6 sightings in the past ten years all in Onslow County Camp Lejeune. Timber/Canebrake rattlesnake Crotalus horridus is the same species of pitviper they live in the Coastal plains and long leaf pine forest also in the mountains of NC.

I seen one 2 years ago in Johnston county next to a pond I was shocked and amazed it was here

@@Boza_ Man that's amazing. Where did you see it? Was it near Smithfield? I live in Wake County and have never seen a rattlesnake. I do know someone who showed me a picture of one that he said his son took near Goldsboro a few years ago.

I live in northwest Florida, and my sweet little pup Kelly was bitten by one of these things in my own backyard! I could not afford the antivenom, and she died. I will NEVER forgive the snake that put her through such a painful death! We have so much trouble with venomous snakes in my area (Okaloosa County.) When people think of Florida, they think of beaches, but it is Wild Kingdom here!
