Please be patient with all the ads on this video everyone. Since I recently got monetized, I plan on using all of the ad revenue I get from this video to donate to the victims of this flood. So even if you can’t send anything yourselves, know that every ad that pops up on your screen while watching this video is still helping to send money to those affected. Thank you all and God bless!

For anyone interested Ryan Hall is a Kentucky weather man on YT. Ryan Hall Ya’ll, he has a fund that goes directly to victims of weather disasters. They were there the night of the floods and were rescueing family members from a swept away home. The emergency and rescue services could not be reached locally because of lack of cell signals, and overwhelmed emergency crews. They went and bought clothes, cleaning products, shoes, and water the next day and took it back to them. There are plans for more money and items to be taken to those communities. That is what they do! Please feel free to look him up amd donate, if you can. He sees to it that every penny for that fund goes directly to thise in need!

Thank you for the prayers. We didn’t really get any damage here in Harlan, but all the counties north were heavy hit. Had no intention of filming anything when we took the supplies over, but after I got there and started seeing first hand how bad it was, and how defeated everyone looked, I wanted to try and do something that may help them. Hopefully the next round of rain starting tomorrow doesn’t make an already very bad problem worse

My husband and I drove thru one of the areas affected today and it was absolutely heartbreaking. Hwy 476 from Bulan to Jackson looks like a war zone. Homes completely gone or moved off their foundations, cars upside down or lodged in the trees in the river. It was so sad. Some places looked like the water was 20 deep over the road. My prayers go out to those families.

While I respect your right to speak your mind and do not censor my comments, I also will give my reply with the same free speech. There is a time and place for politics, and this is not one of them. These people are suffering and I will not let negative comments about religion and politics take over and cause the victims that may read this to have further hardship. Their community and their faith is all they have right now. To put it simply, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all

I have been watching coverage of this and I also watch Ryan Hall Y’all and knew severe flooding was expected in this part of the country. It breaks your heart bc we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we need to take care of each other. I was able to donate here in Eugene Oregon checking out at my local Albertsons grocery. I hope federal aid comes swiftly and complete recovery, God speed. Love and prayers ❤️🙏🌈

My prayers are with Eastern Kentucky. I live in the area that was badly hit. I have never seen anything like this before in my over 50 years of life! Perry, Knott, Breathitt are extremely bad! I was blessed but many have lost everything! Places that had never been flooded before were covered! I fear so many more dead will continue to be found over the coming days. It hit so unexpected in the middle of the night that people didn’t have time to get out! God bless you! And thank you for the video & recognition of the pain & suffering that people are going through. May all that can help please donate to a reputable resource.

Thank you for bringing awareness to this devastating disaster. I have a lot of friends in these area's, and in-law family in Harlan, and Hazard. My sister works at a nursing home here in Somerset where we live, and she went to help the nursing home in Hazard to evacuate to the hospital, she said it was really bad. I know you didn't care for subscribers on this issue, but it's how I discovered your channel. It's very appreciated that you are spreading this awareness on your platform. Prayers for those that lost everything, and missing loved ones. Prayers for the families that lost their children and parents. Thanks also for sharing these important links. It's amazing that Harlan and other safe communities are helping their neighbors. In a time of desperation fellow kentuckians always pitch in to help. Eastern Kentucky will get through this better than anyone. No matter what life hands to all of us, we always get through. Again thank you, and many prayers 🙏

My Aunt Diane was in the white double wide across the Marathon station on the other end of town at bottom of the hill coming in from 80. She was tragically killed in this flood. Her and my mother (Sisters) was very close..My mother is devastated. But I was able to get her out of there yesterday.. My aunt got trapped in her home and no one could save her. The phones went out first ..so no one could warn anybody about what's coming. Even cell phone services was spotty and didnt work. And then the electric went out. And they was in total darkness. The last face book message with her daughter...the water was above her bed. We believe it got even higher because the roof come off first. And her trailer was blocked up really high from previous floods. Now they are only a few blocks left from where her house was. This came so fast and so much water no one had time to react. Its almost not natrual..as its unbelievable amount of water come through there between 2am & 4am! It washed cars, houses, people out everywhere. As the body count was at 20 sum the last I checked. I'm 50 years old and I have seen alot of flooding over the years in Hindman Ky. But this is unreal!! The situation is dire!! Complete destruction and devastating damage!! The video doesnt do it justice. You would have to see it to believe it. Thanks for your service as these people needs help now!!

Your a good man as I can tell from your actions.. you seen the same thing I did..Its devastating to see. And it hits your heart hard. As the national news are under reporting this situation. WYMT is the only news agency that is accurately reported on this travesty. Its really bad! People need to get on local Facebook groups in Hindmen area and you will see. It looks like something nuclear went off here! Even worse in Beaver & Cainy as cars and houses stuck in trees everywhere. People are still in shock as it was like a biblical flood come through here. I'm really still in disbelief myself. Highly appreciate you taking time to post on this really heartbreaking news. Even though ..I could tell you didn't want to.

@@allennickles3970 thank you. I was only hesitant because I know how some people outside of the mountains have always twisted stories to make us all look like backwood nobody’s. And I didn’t really want to film people that were already going through enough and make them feel even worse in some way. But the video definitely does not show how bad it really is. Our floods here happen quick, but the water usually recedes in a day or two due to our elevation. But the problem is in the terrain. Steep mountains with very narrow valleys. Only so much lane suitable to build on, and it’s usually right beside the creeks and rivers in the bottom of the valleys. It’s a bad situation when it rains a lot, and the water can come up very quickly

Before there's too many negative comments about people living in "obvious" flood plains, when towns and cities were first settled in America, there was no running water or indoor plumbing. America did not have indoor plumbing in homes until the late 1800's, and the vast majority of that was in cities, NOT rural areas. You built right on top of the closest water source for your day-to-day survival. Water is heavy and was hard to move before plumbing and electricity was available, and then only if you had the money. Also, there were no records readily available to study past flood trends to know where not to build. You would just find water and start building your shelter, which would eventually turn into towns. The trails turned into roads. That's how it was, world-wide, since the beginning of civilization. I never see anybody mention this historical fact, they just judge.

My father was born and raised in Vicco in the 40's-50's. He talks about dams that were built back then, with the promise they would end such flooding. Folks in the are need to relate this to the news media about the promise of flood control was suppose to bring to this area. We no longer live in that area, but we are quite aware of its history. Why did these dams fail to do what was promised?
@TheCraftyCrowShow

They put some in, but to be totally effective I think they would have to dam about everything creek. There was so much rain come so quickly though that I’m not sure a dam could have held all of it. It wouldn’t have hurt though. Wonder what their plans were back then

I totally agree. I never film in vertical format for full length youtube videos. I was apparently caught up in the moment so much and originally didn’t intend on making a video that I filmed in vertical.

I know, once that river breaches, those hollows become basically conduits containing the water that can only flow in one direction, to the lowest point. If the lowest point is flooded, the water has nowhere else to go. It simply is the river that is wider and in this case, a hundred miles longer and miles wider. From Jackson to Iaeger West Virginia is over 120 miles. The Governor of West Virginia declared five West Virginia counties, as well as the Governor of Virginia also declaring a state of emergency, so in terms of distance, you are looking at a broad area from North Breathitt to McDowell County West Virginia and Grundy, Virginia.... this is over 150 miles length from Jackson to Grundy Virginia and 85 miles from Pikeville to Harlan . And considering all the side creeks, this was a huge amount of water. If you took all that water and compared it to New Orleans in Katrina, this was more water. The distance from New Orleans to Biloxi is only 90 miles, but those are coastal cities. But here is the kicker, this is the same storm that hit St. Louis and flooded that as well. So in terms of overall distance, from St. Louis, Missouri to Grundy, Virginia, 514 miles, which is longer than Katrina at 400 miles wide. You had a storm bigger than Katrina. And others are going to look at Eastern Kentucky like these people barely exist to to them, but in terms of damage, more people lost homes in this than Katrina. The cost might be less than New Orleans, Gulfport and Biloxi, but these are people's homes and jobs. In terms of loss, more.

I hadn’t thought about it that way, but I guess your right. That’s a huge amount of area those storms covered. We are unfortunately used to being ignored by the outside world around here, but that’s not always a bad thing. With or without their help though, we will pick each other up and help them get back on their feet

Wonder what happens when a bank floods. Does the government step in and get all that dirty money or is all money kept in water protected safe?! I don't think I've ever thought of that until you drove by a bank. Thanks for the map also! Edit: I've donated and praying! I could only afford $10 but if everyone would do $5 look how much that would help!! This is so heartbreaking!! Thank you sir for everything 🙏
@TheCraftyCrowShow

Your very welcome. I figured the map would help some people. As muddy and nasty as all that money would be, I would guess (and this is an absolute guess) that they would exchange it with the federal reserve for new, and the reserve would just destroy it. That’s what makes sense to me, but maybe someone that knows otherwise could comment and let us know. But I’m with you, that’s something I had never thought about either. Great question
