@@badmoonrising_007 if you live in the wrong area the water can rush up very fast, it's hard to convey the power of water to someone who's never really felt it's strength but I'll try. I lived in central arkansas and they would have flood warnings all tge time so theyre taken a bit lightly since 95% of the time its nothing. Well one day it was something and this mother waited to long to evacuate and ended up stuck in the flooded river her car got stuck and she called 911 they told her to get on her car roof with her babies cause the water was rising, after getting on top the flood kept getting worse it flipped the car and she lost her two toddlers. I almost died kayaking the same flood, some people got pinned under water usually under a tree or boulder and died because you can't pull them out cause the current is literally 600X more gallons than a normal day.

I lives near the Trinity river in Texas growing up we had bad floods but thank god we never encountered anything like that only one year we lost our home to a tornado.

The Climate Waits for No One Thirty years ago, a friend of mine got into the green energy business and tried to pull me into it. I asked him what for, it isn’t serious. It changes according to the interests of politicians and money moguls, and it never benefits the planet or the majority of its inhabitants, namely all of us. Since the climate waits for no one, eventually, it will catch up with us. Earth is a closed system, and in a closed system, there are consequences to exploitation: it hurts the abuser as well as the abused. I don’t know when or at what cost, but eventually, we will all have to realize that we cannot take beyond what we need. We cannot keep exploiting Earth selfishly and thoughtlessly because it will turn against us. Earth is like a submarine: there is only so much oxygen on board. If some crew members take more than their quota, the rest will not have enough, they will die, and the submarine will sink along with those who exceeded their quota. We need constant reminders that we are one system, and we are all dependent on each other. We need to genuinely grasp that selfishness hurts us just as being exploitative hurts others. If we constantly remind ourselves that we are interdependent, we will behave with more consideration, and we will avoid the punitive impact of climate change. The other option is to keep working as the UN’s Production Gap Report states that we are planning to work, and suffer nature’s unforgiving response. I hope we wise up in time because everyone will pay the price for this mistake.

People need people. Regardless of their demographics That guy's gear looks like he's a whitewater kayaker. He came to her aid because he was in the geographic area and apparently he was a relative coming specifically to that location. Bless him. I've never taken a count, but the number of highly skilled female white water kayakers are about equal to the number of males. (FYI, white water kayaking is NOT a strength sport. Humans cannot possibly out muscle the current. We USE the current) So why does this one example of a skilled kayaker with gear, who happened to be male, rescuing a flood victim who happen to be female, prove some large scale point? I would expect that many males needed rescue as well. I would expect that many rescuers, including police, fire, and other white water kayakers, were female. This isn't about a female or a male. It was about a victim and a rescuer. For some reason, you seem to see this through sexist / political terms. Really, people are people, regardless of their demographics. From my perspective, and I speak only for myself, I think that's what "feminism" is about. On the other hand, if you resent the more recent crap about "toxic masculinity", you have a valid beef there. But please realize that message isn't from all women or even most women. That message, like most recent divisive messages, is from a handful of political operatives and their "useful idiots", trying to score political profit. Not that it matters, but I have a light hearted white water rescue story. White water kayakers are either skilled or they are swimming. (We swim a lot, until we get it right.) Rafts, on the other hand, are large stable sofas by comparison, for rent by absolutely anyone. Think skis versus sleds. Kayakers often collect rafters' yard sales after they crash and burn. One day I was on a white water creek that was shared by a group of college kids in rafts. We ran a rapid and waited for the rafts behind us. As we expected, most rafts dumped. I picked up the closest swimmer on my kayak. She looked up at me and asked, "Do I know you?" I'm thinking, what, you don't take rides from strangers? I can't count the number of rafters I've pulled out. Some male, some female. Never seemed relevant. But I do remember that the one rafter I pulled out with their pants around their ankles, pretty sure that rafter was a guy.

The person who rescued her was her police officer cousin who knew she was there and was looking for her. This might surprise you but some things are not about gender equality. Sometimes it's about helping out a family member who is stuck in a dangerous situation.
