Its supply and demand and other geo-politics, and not just economics. US is overlooking India's oil purchase from Russia for time being on two fronts. 1) It wants to maintain OPEC supply and not allow it to become another price gouger or opportunity player. 2) Quad has precedence in which India is a strategic partner. US knows that India has had strong defense ties with Russia, but is optimistic of a change in days ahead. Containing Asia (China, Russia, Burma, Pakistan, Afghanistan etc) will warrant India as a strong base and West sees the same in years to come.

NATO is a defense group which was formed to fight against Russia. So, Russia has every right to warn neighboring countries to not join in the group and remain neutral. After all, they shared borders with Russia, so if any small conflict happened it could easily cascade into a big catastrophe. And yes, it's true that countries have a sovereign right to choose whatever they want to do. But they have to think about how it's going to affect their neighbors. After all, NATO's biggest supporters, the US and UK, are no going to be affected by this war, not directly. But these countries do. So this argument that these sovereign countries have every right to join is totally bogus. because sovereign country don't pick sides they remain neutral. And for NATO. They will not give you real help, they willl give you a gun and a choice. "Ither you shoot them or shoot yourself."

NATO was created to end Europe's imperialism. Spain, Austria, Hongary, Germany, France, UK and the rest: they all joined the NATO instead of fighting wars among themselves (as they did for centuries). Russia is the only European empire that did not collapse yet. The purpose of NATO is known as "to keep the Soviet Union out, the Americans in, and the Germans down," so the argument that Russia has anything to say about countries joining the NATO is utter BS. If russia decides to bully one of their small neighbours, then the other neighbours will intervene: that is humanity.

Therefore there is a WAR: russia wants to deny Ukraine's very existence now. They can't accept a sovereign Ukraine, and simply wants to eradicte it from the map. While Ukraine on the other hand, like the Baltic states, Poland, Georgia, Finland and many others want to remain sovereign and safe. Russia has security problems but so do ALL russia's neighbours. I used to respect Shashi Tharoor but to see him toeing the lines of Europe and speak against India is truly disappointing. Of all the data he provides in his piece he never mentions that Ukraine was supplying arms to Pakistan during the Kargil war. Ukrainian arms have Indian army's blood on them. I dont care about BJP, never voted for them but to negate or counter S Jaishankar's correct stand is a lowly colonial move by mr Tharoor. Oh yes I have lived in Czech Republic for many years and will be back this year for a very long time too, and I know how they rightfully feel about Russia, they should so, give their history, but we Indians must never forget that in 1971, two bomber jet carriers were lurking in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian sea, one belonging to US and the other UK, the US one carrying a nuclear warhead pointing towards India. If there was no USSR there would be no India that it is today. Remember the history and do not trust the bootlickers of the West.

In 1962 ; if USA would not have warned China probably New Delhi would have been now reading a history which was once occupied by Chinese . Soviet neutrality had not helped then . Russia has become weaker and it will remain so even if it win the war . Russian technology has become obsolete . It is time for indeginious development and Western technological support .
