Here's Jesse to show the ins and outs of the smaller Eastman body styles - the E20 Parlor Traditional and the E20 00 Short Scale Traditional. Both guitars feature an Adirondack Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides. Enjoy!

I have been impressed with all of the Eastman guitars you have reviewed Jesse and I think I liked the parlor with the slotted peg head the best. Parlors are great finger style instruments and this one sounded exceptional.

I own an E20 OOSS and plan on buying the Parlor model very soon. Excellent craftsmanship and a lot of bang for the buck.

I just came across your channel. Thank you for this video. I recently sold my Eastman E20 00SS. I really liked it and my other Eastmans but needed to cut my collection. I had a Martin 0015, a Gibson L00 rosewood, the Eastman, and a Breedlove Legacy Concertina ALL at the same time. Played each for months. The Eastman was VERY SIMILAR in sound to the Gibson. I kept the Martin and the Breedlove but loved each of them. The slot head in this video sounds really good. To my ear, better than the E20 00. Thank you for this video

I think you can hear the advantage of a 12 fretter here.

Have to Admit I needed to listen over and over again, and still indecisive.. so different and both beautiful.. I have an Eastman E6D, which I love (it actually replaced my Bedell), but also in the field for an OO / maybe Parlor.. more for the feel (and take fingerplay into my old age Challenge).. Think Parlor has the sound (warmer) Im looking for, but man! Could do them both, but no no stop dreaming.. Thanks for a great “no BS” Channel / review’s.

Eastman make very good "tributes" to both Martin and Gibson. the E20P (which I have and love) is a Martin 0-28, first introduced in 1888, (gut strung back then of course) with the Martin 24.9" scale length and the the wider "fingerstyle" nut width (would have been 1 & 7/8" on the Martin, Eastman (and Collings reduced it to 1 & 13/16"). The Eastman is remarkably loud with a lot of presence. Why Eastman didn't call it an E20-0 I don't understand. The E20-00SS is a copy of the Gibson L-00 -('32-'45) so the skinny "rhythm" neck. n.b I don't think Gibson ever made them with rosewood backs and sides - more likely birch. The scale length is pretty much period correct but Gibson scale lengths ... well, y'know.

Ak Fisher it's not thin and jangly. Too me it sounds like a smaller dread. Great for finger picking but it's also great for strumming with a pick. Highly recommended.

Ak Fisher I'm a strum and sing guitar player so it had to be good for strumming. I can dig into it pretty well without a problem. It has a big clear sound to it.

@@becomeaudible1 Thank you so much! Many small guitars including parlours sound a bit thin, and yet these were the main design years ago, and classical/flamenco guitars are by design small compared with modern acoustic-they sound great-so I reckon that some manufacturers have forgotten how to design a parlour, or maybe scale down appropriately to a parlour. I notice the Eastman parlour has a certain depth (back to front dimension) which is slightly larger than others. This makes sense as it will retain bass. Of course there are other elements too. Eastman seems to have really studied old tried and tested designs. Cheers.

I liked both, but I'm more finger picker. The slot head was right for what I do. The 14 fret sounded more modern. The longer scale makes it brighter.

How do the Eastman Cedar top guitars sound in comparison to the spruce top? Does Eastman make a Zebra wood top parlor guitar like Denny Zager? How do the Eastman Torified vs. No-bake sound in comparison? Eastman PCH vs. AC? Eastman $0.00-$600 vs. $600-$1000 vs. $1000-$2000?
@Rogers1977
@Rogers1977 2 жыл бұрын
Hiya, I work for Eastman in the warehouse. While I haven't played too many of the cedar tops compared to the PCH line, the torrefied guitars have a very noticeable difference. For example, I've played an E10OM and E10OM-TC back to back, and the TC sounds much more open and warm. Not that the non-TC is bad, but the TC definitely just fills the room a little nicer with rounder tones to my ears. Also, the E6 and E8 torrefied guitars are still coming to us in swiss alpine spruce (they look like they're normal tops, but certainly aren't), so those are also a pretty good score if you find them in your local store. (Little side note, we've been noticing some of the most recent PCH's coming to us torrefied, the tops are darker like they've been toasted.)

Both of these guitars would sound MUCH better if you played them in their sweet spots instead of where you are playing. This isn’t really representative of their sounds.
