Peter Schickele's compositions, the PDQ Bach works, are clever parodies of classic works, featuring great humor - puns, double entendres, even mixing real orchestras with curious instruments that he invented himself. Things like shower hose and cardboard mailing tube pan-pipes.
This work, The Seasonings" will be featured as the second half of the ECAS concerts on 10/17 and 10/20, 2019 in Easton, MD. It has moments of true Baroque-style solos and choral sound, interspersed with surprising funny mixes of kazoos and slide whistle. Here are some excerpts from the dress rehearsal.
Excerpts are from the movements, "Bide Thy Thyme", "Then Asked He", and "Open Sesame Seed". This first rehearsal had humorous moments that surprised the orchestra, the singers and a few guests in the audience. It will be a truly fun event for all who attend.
The first half of the concert is songs about food in styles from Broadway, jazz, classics and more.
