Have bats always been that fragile? Reminds me of the early 2000s hockey scene when composite first took over. People went from maybe $100-$120 max for the best 2-piece setups to $300-$350 for full composite and they were breaking like toothpicks. Companies like Easton, TXP, CCM would only validate 1 30-day warranty then you were fucked. These bats here are like $400+...

My 11 year old is playing 13u, He has been swinging the CATX and has great results. He took a few cuts in practice with a team mates Hype and the barrel cratered. The team mate said that it was starting to spider web and it probably only had around 300 swings on it. But I will agree it has a higher exit velo than any bat I have ever seen. The coaches think that it is going to get banned by USSSA before spring, but that is just talk.

I broke my icon this weekend. Never hit it off a machine just my dad throwing me BP. Used it in my tourney this weekend and cracked it. We also tested out the hype vs icon. Hype had 1 mph more of Velo than the icon but it flew 24 ft further. I’m 12 and was using a 31-5. My teammate had a brand new icon this weekend as well and he cracked his too.

Y'all are killing me with the "the Hype Fire breaks"... of course it does when you have a fine specimen of a young man such as yourself hitting nukes with it!!! You are what 6ft tall, 195 lbs of lean mean hitting machine, 20-25 years old blasting baseballs with a USSSA bat...OF COURSE IT IS GOING TO BLOW UP!! I've been selling the Hype Fire to young players since it came out and I have no seen a warranty request yet...I know they happen but not yet in my pro shop. The average batter will get a lot of use out of the Hype Fire and the ICON as well as any other Easton or Rawlings bat. Keep up the good work y'al.

The Hype Fire will do okay especially in -8 and -10, but the Icon is gonna be a problem across the board. At the very least, these are the most fragile bats we've ever swung in the USSSA composite space.

You are correct in saying "we've ever swung." For the 8-13 year old both bats are prime. The only ICON I have go back for warranty out of our shop is 1 - 33" BBCOR ICON (2023) that the end cap came off that is it!!!@@baseballbatbros

Probably looking for a 27/17. He's a pure contact hitter at this point, doesn't have a ton of power. Hoping to get at least 2 years (8U and 9U) use out of it. Dont buy the Hype it will get banned soon i'm sure. Where do you live? don't get a composite and use it up in just cages and batting practices. You're son is 9 so i wouldn't go crazy with a bat because he could outgrow it pretty quick.

The weirdest thing happened 2 weeks ago. A 10 u kid in our club hit a check swing bomb with this bat. The fence was only 200 but I've never seen a check swing homerun.

If you want hot go hype fire. If you want durable-ish and still pretty hot go cat x comp. My 7yo has a 30/-8 hype fire and my 9yo has a 30/-8 cat x comp. They both like them. Just got the new icon bc I got it cheap (also in 30/-8) so both boys are using it and they are all 3 pretty much gas. I like the grip and the taper on the cat x comp the best. I keep hearing the hype fire will get banned. But who knows. I think the cat x comp is the best value right now. If money isn’t a thing the hype fire is probably the goat, but don’t swing it outside of games if you want it to last.
