Comparisons like this are great. I agree that it would be better to have the new version of the Eastonmade to make a true comparison. I love the conveyor which is also an option on the Wolfe Ridge. Competition has kept both of these great companies on top of their game!

I am starting to have second thoughts about the wolfe ridge a few videos back I said I had seen videos and I would not waste money on a wolfe ridge but watching your channel it clearly is a nice machine. The other people making a video on wolfe ridge did not do them any justice.

I've sampled both machines. You can't go wrong with either one. You have to nit-pick to choose a winning machine in a shootout comparison.

Hi Chris and Tony!!😀😀 They are both great machines. But I do believe I would take the Axis over the 17vs. Just because of the wedge. You will get a lot less smashed fingers with the Easton made. Take care guys!!😀💚 Logger Al

I wonder how many states make you license those as trailers to pull them around on their roads ?
@thefirewooddoctor2 күн бұрын
Usually splitters are considered equipment and do not require license plates. However, some states may require taillights on them.

i own an early version of the 17VSC. my only complaints are the way the spitting debris falls into the engine area (which i know they have improved with the new tray back there), and the conveyor. the conveyor can be terrible, to be honest. even at low angles it struggles to catch the pieces on its own. it is a combination of many factors, but the paddle design, and where the rotation point on the splitting table terminus is in relation to the height of the table, are the two largest contributing factors, in my opinion. if it was variable speed, it would be better, so that when a paddle came around the sprocket on the bottom, it would not come around so fast, sort of "hop", and slip right under the split pieces. i have played with chain tension quite a bit, and it does it no matter what. i have considered plumbing in a variator to it. i have also considered welding some more teeth on the paddles, but there is a clearance issue with the enclosed nature of the conveyor (which is overall a big plus in my opinion). if you place the pieces on a paddle after the paddle has fully traveled around the the bottom sprocket, and has completed its "hop", it is fine. i have not gotten around to changing anything yet, but i will at some point. it is a great machine in so many ways. i reached out to chris early on, but have not again, i need to shoot him another message and see if there have been any other improvements in the latest version of the VSC.

Good one. I sure like the comparison videos. Both about the same cycle time. But I think the Eastonmade is a hair faster. Which wouldn’t make any difference. The high and low speed cycle time on the wolf ridge is about one second slower on low speed. So no trouble to split on low speed. For me any way. Have a great Sunday. Hats off to you and Tony, great show. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

The Wolfe Ridge for me. Honda motor, simply built mast/ram mount and I like where the oil tank is mounted. The axis does not appear to have a lot of ground clearance due to where their oil tank is. In all fairness to Eastonmade they too have a lifter now that doesn't need to be disconnected from the ram for transport.

They should extend the debris tray and bolt the plastic tube to the fender and add a tray to the other side also put the front panel with a hinge so you can store stuff underneath
@thefirewooddoctor2 күн бұрын
You should see the spaghetti mess of hydraulic hoses on the Wolfe Ridge. Not much room for storage under there. Is already difficult to route the hydraulic lines the way it is with the space involved. A storage box would make it more difficult.

I would love to have one of those splitters! It would be cool to see how the Split-Fire 1165V would compare. The 1165V is half the power, 7.5 tons, and 1/3 the price, $3,800 all in. It is a small unit & it cannot be highway towed.
