I really wished Devon's fairytale ascent to the top when he last pulled Levan came true. But I see now that this outcome might be even more beautiful: Levan has the deserved spotlight on him now and is immensely respectful to Devon and seems to want to take his legacy with him. Meanwhile Devon is getting healthy and puts less pressure on his body and mind, allowing the both of them to flourish in their own paths. It's a more wholesome and healthy outcome, and it took this interview for me to see that. Beautiful stuff!

The man is special alright..he did try weight training for a few months though..just didn't continue cuz it didn't translate to the table anywhere near as much as he'd have liked.. he's also eaten junk and been a booze bag for many years of his life.. imagine what he could have been if he had all the advantages that guys have today..

That round 1 between them was everything we wanted to see. The press Levan went into basically hyperextended Devon at the elbow and drained every bit of energy he had. That position is impossible to hold up a nearly 400 pound guy. Levan and Engin both said the same, that they could tell Devon was drained after that. In the center position, Levan couldn't break through him even with all that power. Once he pressed Devon, Devon's arm was dead. I would love to see if Devon finds a solution for that, because he was definitely better this time than the first time, but some weight classes are too large to overcome with technique. It's why welterweights don't fight heavyweights in boxing. A 265 pound guy is just going to have a problem with a 385 pound guy when both guys are trained in the same skillset.

Once he established that position I imagine that if Devon started hitting like he did Denis it could have went differently, Levan may have not been able to jump into a press. But either way there’s no way Devon was winning that unless it was wal rules with kings move allowed then MAYBE he could have caught the press long enough to put serous burn on Levan.
