ALWAYS ADD THE ACID TO THE WATER. That is a basic chemistry lab safety rule. If you add the water to your concentrated acid, you risk massive heat and splattering of concentrated acid in your face! Sulfuric and nitric acids are particualrly violent but con HCl is no joke. Googles and heavy PVC coated gloves ARE REQUIRED. Also the acetonerrinse can come AFTER a quick distilled water rinse so you can save and re-use your acetone for brush cleaning rather than throwing it away. I know the acetone is used to remove water to stop rusting from the acid etched metal by npthing bad will happen in 30 seconds of distilled water rinsing off, trust me on that one. BTW you should NOT dump acetone or solvents down the drain but save them for solvent recyclying even if you mix it with used motor oil for cement kiln burning by recycling authorities. Acetone is reactive when exposed to acids so it is best to only save it for re-use if you have kept it relatively clean. You can also add a tablespoon of that powdered sodium bicarbonate to your used acetone to stabilize it from acid degradation and this isn't a bad idea for all your spent solvents as bicarbonate will neutralize any acids but keep the cap somewhat loose for the first couple of days as you can off gas CO2 and blow your bottle up if there is a large amount of acid to be neutralized (look for gas bubbles when you add the baking soda to the solven can. Play safe with flammable solvents, they are dangerous, especially around welding ops.

You can also use electrolysis to get rid of rust on inside of the tank - -Water and washing soda - - Piece of thin wall PVC pipe that will fit in the filler cap + with lots of holes drilled in it. - Some real course steel wool - Battery charger. Electrolysis - Harmless non toxic and takes bout 24 - 48 hrs If you want you can also use a piece of Zinc and use electrolysis to then zinc plate the inside before sealing with your kit.
