@@NoName-um4dt Charles try using Frog Tape. It keeps paint out and keeps lines sharp. I haven’t done one like this yet but I’ve been using it on the sides of my canvas to keep the paint from running on the back of the canvas. It’s worked good. I just looked this up because I want to do something similar. Masking tape has never worked for me. Paint runs under the tape. I hope this helps.
@squishyshelli4 жыл бұрын
I like the imperfection of the paint bleeding behind the tape, it looks pretty cool. If you want to avoid that though, a trick you can try is to paint over the tape with the background color to seal the edges. I do that when I paint using vinyl stencils and it is pretty effective.
@gregpalmer5724 жыл бұрын
actually that:s life hack even when painting walls in the home. it:s not as much as sealing the edges but rather the bleeding of a matching color isn:t noticeable and prevents any further bleeding.... either way you are correct and I enjoyed the video and reading the comments

Very creative. Thanks for sharing. Since you didn't even use yellow, I'm guessing the black painted over something else and the tape pulled some black off, exposing bits of yellow? Personally, I like the added "pop". 😉

Just a little constructive criticism. If you brush on some matte medium over your painters tape it makes it less likely for the tape to bubble up and allow the paint to bleed under the tape; it’s a technique I do if I’m trying to get clean edged lines. But all in all it looks very nice.
@pamsimon89984 жыл бұрын
Ryan Molina what’s matte medium?
@ryanmolina49484 жыл бұрын
Pam Simon it’s a mixing medium it has the opaque look of a watered down glue I usually buy Liquidex brand version but I’m sure there are lots of brands that sell it. It dries clear when applied directly to a canvas and it makes for a nice seal between the canvas and the tape. It’s typically use is mixed with paint to help your color go a little farther or if you want to thin your paint so it’s more transparent.

Even on a smooth surface paint tends to seep under masking tape if you leave the paint to dry before taking it away. Either you need to take it off whilst the paint is wet or use a more expensive painters tape if you want clean lines.

To stop it from bleeding under the tape just paint the base color over the tape after applying it, that way the same color will seep underneath the tape and fill all the voids/gaps giving you a cleaner edge

Just a tip for the 'experts' out there. If you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself. If she was looking for tips, she would have said so in the description box. Art is very subjective and one person will love it and the other will hate it. That's what art is. When you piss on it, it can be hurtful and that's really just unnecessary. If Candice likes it then we should all love it.
