how many inhibitor litters are needed for a system or radiators? thanks
@hollywoodactress6 күн бұрын
How long does inhibitor last in the system? And when to top up? Also could I top up via the magna-clean ?
@plumberparts5 күн бұрын
Hi there, yes you can top up via a magnaclean (although filters are prone to leaks afterwards) Top it up after every driandown/bit of work being done.

How do you rate that Flomasta inhibitor? It's quite a lot cheaper to buy than the Adey/Fernox/Sentinel brands. Has anyone done any independent testing? Also curious to know about mixing them. I already had one brand in my CH, then after some work done I topped it off with another brand. That's a bit of a no-no with vehicle coolant, but seems to be ok for this?
@plumbertime5 күн бұрын
I’d guess it’s just a weaker mix. Hence how some brands just like juice offer a smaller more concentrated mix
@MrEspadrilles3 күн бұрын
I use the flomasta stuff and have mixed it with sentinel x400 to clean the system. No issues and system water clean
@bentarn76823 күн бұрын
I check inhibitor levels with a scale master electronic test kit on every service, generally find that the cheaper brands of inhibitor aren't as concentrated so you'll need two bottles in to get the benefit in the system. When putting it in I used to use Sentinel because big bottle better in my head, but if you read the bottle the concentration in Fernox is much higher - even the smallest bottle which will fit in a small magnaclean is good. In terms of mixing, I can't say I've seen any effects on systems yet.

Stupid question but why can’t you just poor it in the tank in the loft I’ve got a little black tank next to the other tank. I’m sure that’s for the central heating
@elmodiddly2 күн бұрын
Most modern central heating systems are self contained pressurised systems with no loft header tank.

Screwfix sell a Flomasta kit that does this job and it is only £5. I wanted to make one of these but its just too much faff if you are just filling your own radiators every year.

Just in time. We had the system emptied while trying to figure out why the pump wasn't turning on when the controller kicked in. Turns out it was electrical as it works plugged in to a socket. Now I have to figure out why no 240v at the pump.

Dude this actually worked, my renova bulex tematek heating system lost pressure every once in a while, thought it would be some issue in the heater changed some pieces but didn’t help. Than closed the water input and output valves from the heater the pressure didn’t drop, which meant that there should be a leakage somewhere in the pipes. Thought I would be fcked and needed to break open the floors, I went to the shop the guy told me there is this product fernox f1 (slimey product) which can potentially solve it depending of how unlucky you are (size of the leakage…) I was quite sceptic, had very little hope. I only have 5 radiators in the apartment bottle says up to 20 or something so I connected it straight in the system underneath the heater put the whole product in went very quick emptied the whole bottle before I realised. I let the system run for some time. And wished for the best and it actually didn’t drop since then but this was literally 2 weeks ago, hopefully it will be good to go for ever…
