I occassionally do plumbing on a DIY basis and nearly every solder joint I have done has leaked. I have been restricted to using compression joints. I really just needed someone to explain what I was doing wrong and this video is pure gold. I will definitely have another go at solder joints in the future. Thanks for posting this video.

Soooo, I have dug up this video after watching your video about proper soldering copper fittings. Yeah, yeah, I made a compete balls-up of a replacement 'T' and tap off threaded brass. ( Too bloody hot, and a bit of water in the bottom pipe, aahrg well...).I had to use compression fittings. I am here to just make sure I did the right thing. I did of course.

Never used a sealant, this type of connection has never failed for me. Now days the push on shark bite has somewhat been popular rebuked buy a few plumbers that think they're too risky even though they give a 25-year warranty and will they pay the damages. That being said, I think the compression fitting will last a very long time if installed correctly.

Loved the way you didn't get grumpy like I would have done. Not to find fault, but could you have drilled to a fixed depth, the absolute minimum to secure the toilet, to minimise the chances? Maybe you were showing off a bit for the camera how effective your great big guns are! Love the accents

If a shower wall was longer than the panels (e.g. 79" instead of 60"), could you get 3 panels and cut the third panel to fit the extra 19"? And if so, how do you tackle the seam so that they are still waterproof and not obnoxiously obvious?

We're those radiator fans at the bottom of the living room rad?. Are they a worthwhile purchase if the rad needs a little extra help to distribute the heat??

I have one rad out of my whole system which is sitting at 54c rad body temperature. The other ones are only at 34c. I've been running about trying to fix this for a week, but still no joy. I've closed off lockshield to force the water onto the other rads, and it worked a wee bit, but not great.

I always replace the whole thing not just the head..when a system has sludge problems it affects the internal workings of the valve itself not just the head.

Hi, my question was to see how to install a mixer shower on to a stud wall but also how to make sure it would be leak proof, as it has been pointed out to me that being one of the concerns.

you might think it is quiet, try having one going all night next door !! insulate, isolate , dont let it rest on structural timber ! use rubber washers, springs or foam it to polystyrene ! they are so annoying !!
@davecass9486Күн бұрын
please respect your neighbours!! i lived next door to one of these pumps for four years, and the sound transmition through the floor was horrendous at 1.00 ,2.00 five o'clock silly oclock, bussy house. i asked him about it but obv not interested. he used a local "go ahead builder" whos first job was always to throw screws washers instructions etc out of the window. these pumps need mounting on springs, rubber washers or just polystyrene or similar. but not direct contact with structural timbers etc. drove us nuts it was so loud in daughters bedroom. i had no problem with standard electric shower, some c%nts just have to be clever !

Thanks for this informative and comedy video. I've just had new radiators fitted with the same valves your using and because my previous rads didn't have valves they were very old, I was unsure how to properly set the new trv's I was going drastically from high to low to high but now after little tweets over several days bingo I've found a happy setting. Cheers pal for your help. 👏🏼

If i have a tap just like your old one, and need to replace it, do I need one exactly like your new one with the flat bar at the bottom? Guessing i can't have a fancier one without replacing the whole sink?

Can you answer this question for me. 6 radiators 3 upstairs 3 downstairs always colder upstairs so running boiler wireless thermostat in upstairs room all radiators on 5 but downstairs radiators turned on number 2 as its much warmer .if I did it the other way around the thermostat would switch the boiler off before upstairs got up to temperature 18c. Is this more economical or is it just the same costs if all 6 radiators on number 5 which I obviously I don't need as it would be to hot downstairs . Cheers, and you've got some great videos on the channel.

Superb video James, I had problems with my upstairs and downstairs flush. After watching this video I repaired both at no cost. I used a paper laminator sheet and cut put the shape required. It worked perfectly. Saved me paying for two new units.Thank's again.
