While the fantasy league is often one of my favourite Easy Allies things throughout the year, this episode was special. Sad to see Don go, but leaving on such a high as those first 43 minutes were some of the funniest of all time. Literally had tears in my eyes at some point and had to rewind to fully appreciate the amazing grace backing of the exit speech!

Honestly, I can see where Don is coming from with the Avatar/TotK comparison Basically I think what he is saying is that TotK is a 10 as far as puzzles go but a 7 as far as everything else, while Avatar is an 8 across the board. I can't agree as I haven't played Avatar, but I understand what he's saying!

Because it came up around 1:06:00, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a "Journey to the West" based title. Heck, Dragonball is based on it. Isla is right.

Those titles take so much liberty with Journey to the West that they barely resembled the source material. JTTW proper is pretty much an unexplored IP in video games and most people in the West don't have any idea what the story is even about. This is really the first time the IP is being done proper in AAA game form, not to mention from an actual Chinese developer. I think it being categorized as a new gaming franchise is correct.

It wasn't caught in the recording but Black Myth: Wukong is a New Gaming Franchise even thought other games have existed based on the Journey to the West story. The Fantasy Critic rules regarding New Gaming Franchise specifically discount games based on Public Domain IP. For example, any Sherlock Holmes game from a developer, as long as they haven't made a new Sherlock Holmes game before, is an NGF. The Sinking City, based on Lovecraft's work, is a New Gaming Franchise.
