Step 5 hits hard. I've always loved telling stories and saw streaming as an avenue to express it. The more I get into it the more I love it but I can admit growth has been slow. But hearing "content gets you growth, streaming is the "win/fun" part of it" puts it in the correct perspective. GOING LIVE is the win, everything else is to make that win taste so much sweeter. Good job and love the videos. I know I can kill it and its content like this rthat renforces it over and over.

Thank you so much for every single video you make! #1 - plan out your journey with streaming. Content map. What do you want to see, what do you like, what do you love making content about? Niche it down. #2 - make youtube shorts & tiktoks - short form content brings a lot more viewers. Allows you to develop editing skills in small chunks. #3 - Ideas for videos - ask a question, provide an answer. Make a challenge, show the journey. HOOK the audience. #4 - Content is king. You can't hack the algorithm. #5 - Make longer form youtube videos to gain a following. Use the editing skills from your shorts in your long form content. #6 - Community memes. Make em.

I know that choosing your niche is very important step but the idea of it just kills me inside. Every week I want to do something different and I just don't have fun doing something I'm not in the mood for. I don't know how to get past this problem yet but I know I probably have to if I want to grow. My every attempt to choose a niche goes like this. "I love TTRPGs and worldbuilding so I'll do that. I want to do some art as well and it goes well together so why not. I can also play rpg games because it's mostly the same audience... But they might not necessarily want to watch gameplay. And I also like anime and do some videos about them, well about other non-anime series too. On top of that I would like to be a vtuber..." And so it goes...
@ItsBate Жыл бұрын
My exact issue at the moment as well!
@Daymond42 Жыл бұрын
I totally feel this. A niche is great and all, but when I look at some of the popular Vtubers, I'm like "ooh sweet, a cooking stream! I could do that! Ooh, a singing stream? Can do! Gaming? yeah, I got that! Art? .... it'll be a comedy, but okay!"
@ItsBate Жыл бұрын
@@Daymond42 Yeah I feel you, I know it's gaming I want to do but similarly to @mihau_ part of what I like is flicking! Just can't nail down that "initial niche" that he describes which I know I need to!
@Amelia_Starlight Жыл бұрын
You could make 2 channels, one that focuses on media commentary, and one that focuses on TTRPG and art. You can start with anime at first, then slowly start covering other stuff. If people like your anime commentary enough they might watch your commentary of the other stuff. I don't recommend doing it when starting out but it is something you can consider for later. TTRPG and art sounds great. Some ideas for what you could do with it are: You could make streams about designing characters for your TTRPG with input from your viewers. You could stream playing TTRPG with friends, take the best moments and add illustrations for them, and upload them to youtube. Maybe a visual novel-style presentation with backgrounds, character sprites that change expressions and some unique illustrations to elevate those special moments. As you get better with drawing you could maybe add some animations. Add in your shitpost humour. Reference memes and draw them. It'll make your TTRPG content stand out from others and could be your niche. You can also make a story that plays out in your TTRPG streams and TTRPG series to make it more interesting. Also gives people a reason to want to tune in for the next streams and shows, because they want to see what happens next. Think outside the box. You can always create your own niche that combines other things to create something unique. Don't be afraid to experiment.

This is actually really similar to what Vtubers do. When a company gets a new crop of v-tubers, before the debut stream for each one face bend a ton of time on posting social media content first. They'll tweet announcements, each individual creator will have their own stuff to post, there's shorts and reveals that just help to build up hype. Finally, the big debut, and they already have a steady audience. A lot of times they don't even reveal their voice until the first stream. And I'm learning about how these guys all generate hive before their first dream and wondering why don't regular non-virtual content creators do that? Virtual KZbinr Ren Penrose literally started invading the feet of people who don't even watch that type of content because of her shorts, which didn't even have anything to do with her regular content and mostly had to do with talking about what life as a V tuber is like, sometimes spilling the beans about what it's like behind the scenes and how it isn't just playing games all day and nothing else. She accidentally became one of the biggest new Vtubers entirely off the power of KZbin shorts. You've got to build that hype, people.

I have ADHD and running a twitch channel, KZbin channel, discord, Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter was too much for me. I got overwhelmed and avoided all the work to even make a video because it made me anxious. I eventually killed all my socials except Twitter and stopped being active in Discord and I was at least able to consistent with streaming. I agree Discord is too time consuming. I tell my community and any new person who joins that I'm not usually there but I'll pop in sometimes. ALL just to say that I think this method is SUPER friendly for people like me who can't juggle a lot at once and is only working by themselves. Thanks for the tips! I'll definittely start making some Shorts. :)

If I had to give a lecture on something with zero prep it'd probably be about the importance of being kind to people. I work with kids and one of the things I've found myself repeating over the years when bullying becomes a problem is, "people aren't going to think you're cool in the future because you're mean to someone else now. That person you're picking on is going to remember you being mean to them. Wouldn't you rather be remembered positively for being kind and understanding?" Although idk if that really has much relevance to streaming or content creation past being a good way to look at the world imo. I guess I'm mostly trying to have fun on stream, but trying to figure out what that means content wise still. I'm a slow burner and find it takes me many tries before things start clicking. I'm Simplexis on every platform.

I have to click" I'd also recommend stepping back and considering your niche better, those two games are completely different genres and audiences, so it's not really a niche. Your Shorts and TikToks also lack structure or a reason for viewers to stick around. If you watch the latest short on your channel, "Another epic play of the game" and then compare it to the structure I explain in this video, or the video I made on shorts 2 weeks ago, you'll see why you're not getting results, there is no hook, no value, and no payoff sadly. Hopefully that gives you some places to improve, most of this I cover in videos already, but on your side it's important to be more critical of your own content and really ask if you're nailing it, otherwise its all wasted effort if you're not focused on the right part.

Thanks for the tips! Still working on building my brand myself and a niche can be hard to find being a variety gamer but I’m gonna continue to push out what I can and keep being me! The hope is people will eventually like me and what I’m saying more than the game I’m playing. I’m still working on and getting better with every video being comfortable on camera and having my commentary be funny/good and add to the video but I have faith that with time and good continuous content and motivation it’ll happen!

One thing that motivated me to make better stream content on KZbin is the fact that when you're streaming on KZbin, you're competing against the Mr Beasts and other edited content in the sidebar. It's motivated me to actually have a plan when I stream and put on a show that's engaging enough for someone to stay and watch! Oh and to answer your questions too: 1. I think the topic I could give a presentation on is Indie Games. I've always loved trying new games that no one's heard about and sharing them with others! 2. I think my "unique value" would be my passion for gaming. Whenever I start a new game, I want to see everything the game has to offer. Secrets, easter eggs, achievements, details, etc. I like showing people things they may not have known about and searching every corner for secrets. I've been streaming here on KZbin for almost two years now and I absolutely love it! This video was great, thanks for putting it together!

I'm late to the party but I can say I've seen several of your videos and really enjoy it. It's apparent you enjoy what you do. I haven't even owned a computer for years. Recently received a laptop and have a pc+several other things on the way. I plan to start streaming/making videos soon. I'm happy to know, several points you mentioned I've already been doing without realizing it. To start I plan on streaming/recording just 1 simulator. My goal isn't even to become big, just have fun streaming what I'd be doing anyway. My "niche" or "catch" is to start with nearly no knowledge of or experience with the game I'm playing so people can watch me suck and mess up and watch me (hopefully) get better over time. The same applies to my stream. I'll have very little experience with the software I'm streaming with (obs) and with crappy equipment so people can really see me evolve over time. Not set in stone but I'm also considering using NO addons/plug-ins for my game and possibly use keyboard only and not use my gaming controller for a true, real experience the way the game was designed to be played. Maybe this will help show people you CAN game without fancy, expensive add-ons and equipment. Also, since I go by rawkn (pronounced rock-in) I have several phrases I can use with my name. Will this raw, barebones game play and evolving from no knowledge and experience be fun for anyone else? Who knows. Honestly, I just hope to have fun doing it and if I have fun, maybe it'll be contagious and others can have fun. Will anyone read this whole thing I typed? Probably not, but hey I had fun!

Hiyo, stumbled across your video and just wanted to say thank you! Am a brand new content creater, and your video has given me some insight as well as stuff to think over. Thank you for this, as I basically am just jumping into the water and seeing how things go. So thank you for the video! Have a good one o/

LOVE this video bro! I wish more creators were to the point and engaging like you. I am in the shorts phase now for my 2nd channel where I play hearthstone, and I’m having the time of my life. I will use the shorts as “ads” for my longer videos, and then use both as ads for my future livestreams. I figured I should probably have 500 subs before I start live-streaming, but we’ll see!

Hello I was wondering if you have any videos on editing videos for KZbin and shorts?? I am new to the game and was wanting to learn how to edit them. Like for example….. if I make a video in stream labs can I edit the video in that software or should I go to my videos part of it in my computer and edit them from a external video editor thank you and keep up the good work!!!

I like asking myself questions. Like, "What would happen if I did blank" in a game. I love branching narratives so often it is all approvals on one character or making only choices that are one type of category, heck even - what if I only pick choices on the left side. IDK if anyone else likes it, but I enjoy myself playing games in challenge mode (after playing t normally obvi) in branching narratives to see all the options.

Thank you for these videos. They are so helpful. Especially on the shorts. That's where I struggle. Just making them engaging. Soke of my tik tok ones get like 800 views but barely any likes. Also what is your streaming chat layout. Its pretty cool.

Where did you get or create your chat box that is on screen? It is by far the coolest one I have seen and would love something like that. Great video by the way!

Ayooo, that selling point on step 6, lol! But tbh I actually will try to stream on youtube now as well. Maybe on the following week, since I have to stream on Facebook rn too to maintain stars eligibility. 😑

Shorts are OP! I get MAYBE 200 views from TikTok, but the same content hits 1,200+ on KZbin half the time.

I’d recommend watching my video from 2 weeks ago about shorts growth and how I got millions of views, I think you’re falling for the algorithms testing trap.
