Welcome to Day 3 of Quiltmas 2023!! Quiltmas is a collaboration with 12 KZbin quilters from around the world. This year, we exchanged a fat quarter of Xmas fabric and were challenged to make a Christmas-themed project.
For my contribution, I designed this quick and easy-to-make lap-sized Christmas quilt with the most amazing cuddly fleece backing, and you can win it!

I believe the tape in the video is Diagonal Seam Tape. It is in Tom's list of favourite quilting products.

It's actually masking/paintes tape. I thought I had made it quite obvious, but looking at it again it wasn't as obvious as I thought :-)

Okay. Believe me. I have carefully studied the very obvious hints in your video that point out an object that is your secret word. Is it an embroidery hoop, a magnifying glass, or a thread cutter of some sort I have never seen before. I sew and quilt every day, and I have actively sewn for the past 60 years. Sadly, I do not know your secret word. Perhaps you could make it a little MORE obvious by doppelganger it for me. 😊😂😅 I love that you described all your errors and frustrations. We can all relate.

One thing I do when sewing (quilts and everything else) is that I put the pins in with the point going towards the seam to be sewn. It normally helps me to make sure the pieces get sewn correctly.

I love your layout of the fabrics the sashing color as well as the red backing fabric. A beautiful quilt to cuddle up with! I have made a few small quilted items, but never a big one as I was not sure of how to do the actual quilting. Love how you used the simple stitches to quilt with.

I am loving this quiltmas project. I am discovering quilters and content creators that I never knew. I think your fabric submission was so gorgeous! I see no issue using that beauty and I agree that it goes well with it not being the traditional red, green, or gold. I am quite used to things going wrong. My favourite quilting thing to do is sew blocks upside down. My Quiltmas announcement video backdrop has a upside down block LOL Oh well :-)

Toss the cuddle fabric in the dryer and it all goes into the filter that takes a few seconds to clean off

Thank you, I think you could make this in a few different ways with strips and different layouts to make something really fun. I thought my notion was really obvious but seems I was being clear as mad when I re-watched it :-) The notion was masking/painters tape. Good luck with the competition.

I think your quilt turned out to be a story of friendship and sheer determination. Your choice of the quilting stitch brings the fabrics into focus. I love your choice of the white background fabric to make your fabric blocks come front and center and into focus. At first, I thought the roll of tape was being placed behind you by the elves as a bit of mirth and merriment. Now I know it was you putting the roll of tape on the desk as part of the contest.
