Cool Trees and for those stains, try old peanut butter jars. They keep the stain from drying out for a longer time and are toolless!

What are the blue and purple color stains you use??
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
The blue is a Minwax Oil based stain called Navy 286 and the purple is a Minwax water based stain that I had mixed at Lowes. Lowes has many colored stains that they don't sell on the shelf but that you can have mixed at the paint counter. There's a little pamphlet by the stains with all the colors.

Enjoyed the video man and subscribed finally. Question about your sales tactics though. I always go back and forth on free shipping for items depending on the size and cost. On the trees I assume you are charging shipping otherwise you would not make enough to cover the shipping cost correct? Thanks in advance.
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
when I started etsy they really pushed for free shipping. they gave sellers better search results if they offered free shipping and I always heard customers like free shipping better even If your product had a higher price point. So I added the cost of shipping to each tree. it sucked because when people bought one tree the profit was low because of shipping but I made up for it with the larger orders.

What type of wood do you use?
@TreggLieblerАй бұрын
He said most were just Home Depot one by pine. He did show one near the end that was walnut though.
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
Its just the common white wood dimensional lumber (1x2 and 1x4) from home depot. It gets harder and harder to find good pieces in my area.

Do you use 120 for your belt sander??
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
Yes i normally use 120. I have 150 too but you can hardly tell the difference.
@JoeGator232 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video. Any chance you have a total after expenses, shipping and fees? At this point your video could be more educational... but your style is great. Thanks!
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
I don't really have a breakdown for just the trees because I made a lot of different things and the trees were just one of them. I can tell you I made 9 trees from 1 stick of 1x2. I made $98.91 from those 9 trees. The 1x2 cost from $1.75 to $4.50. Shipping is hard to say because the orders ranged from 1 tree to sometimes 10+ so the more they purchased the bigger the profit. My average order was probably $30 and $5-$8 went to shipping.
@sandynorman700Ай бұрын
Why do you use stain and not paint?
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
Its just a personal preference. I like the way the stain looks better. I like to see the wood grain I feel like it gives the tree more character and then if you have several green trees none are really the same.

Hey bud, I made the 5 piece trees before from an earlier video. I also made the mountains too. When I stain them, I don't like the cloth I use, result doesn't look as sharp as yours. Do you have a link to the cloth you use or is it locally bought n what exactly is it. Cheers!
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
Hey brother, I'm so glad you made them from my videos!! I just get the rags from Walmart. They are made by hyper tough and they're in the home improvement section. One thing I do to get a better finish is sand the wood with 120 grit sandpaper. hope this helps.

What white stain do you use? I’ve tried to use white a couple times and it never looks good
@jascogoodsАй бұрын
its the water based minwax. They mix it for you at Lowes. I can't remember if this one needed to be mixed or if they have it on the shelf. I normally do two coats but you can do the second coat like an hour later because this stuff dries so fast.
@TylerDobbsWoodworksАй бұрын
