Very beautiful. I want to try this one very soon, I thought about maybe when pulling the card across the canvas to give it a very slight curve to give a roundish effect to the trunks of the trees and branches, just a thought though. Today I visited your webpage and looked at all of your incredible paintings. I seen an apple blossom painting there and was hoping you'd have a tutorial with some here on your youtube channel. I'd love to see one if you are ever in the mood or have the time to do one on the apple blossoms, even a small painting would be great. I've used the curving technique when I'm painting using a brush or drawing tree trunks but using the card I'm not sure about will try also.

Melissa Bradford Awesome! Glad you tried it. I use the credit card for abstract backgrounds. Like mod podge your canvas with paper (book paper is my favorite) then scrape paint across it with different colors of paint. It makes an awesome background for paintings or just pretty by itself. I also use it for grass sometimes (scraping up from the bottom of the canvas and using the corner to etch lines in the wet paint). :)

My first painting ever. Thanks for the instruction! It turned out pretty good I think. I made the mistake of putting the big tree in the middle and it didn't scrape well but I fixed it with a little white paint.

I would use smaller tape on a small canvas. It will give you more opportunities for cross over etc. Good luck with it!

Thanks Amy! I used my regular Canon digital camera that had a video option set up on a tripod. I have since switched to a Sony camcorder because my battery life wasn't long enough on the regular camera and kept cutting out mid recording. So frustrating! :)

+Ayushi Yadav masking tape works well too. With this one seeping is not a big issue since you will be painting the edges black anyways.
