you should use the pulp from baking muffins or sweet breads. my mother made jellies and jams, we used the type syrup (same as you make) for Saturday morning pancakes. thanks for the memoires.

If you have one nearby you can go to a U-pick berry farm and pick your own blackberries to use. They're much riper and richer tasting than grocery store berries. They're cheaper, too. You can pick enough berries to can a winter's worth of blackberry syrup at one time.

Great recipe. If I wanted to make it with a sugar substitute, such as raw stevia, would you happen to know how much would be comparable to a 1/2 cup of regular sugar. It's hard to find a sugar free syrup other than a maple sugar free syrup. I'm going to give this recipe a try for our next pancake breakfast. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! I looked up Sweetleaf Stevia brand and their chart suggested 1/2 cup of sugar would be 12 packets or 1 tsp of liquid concentrate . 😊
